micah richards

I would have no probelms with that ex hatter getting the odd england cap but he is hardly good enough to start, but then who is down the left.

Could Lennon be? I think he might have more discipline to stay out wide because he knows that's where his pace is best exploited. Not sure who you'd play on the right though then (Pennant? Abonglahor?). I just think a midfield four of Beckham-Gerrard-Lampard-Cole is a pathetic cop-out of fielding essentially four right-footed centrally-aligned attackers. There's no width and it suffacates Rooney's space.

Agreed though, it is a scandal how Barry's never been given a chance by anyone. It might be the curse of not playing for "a big club", whatever the fuck that means.

....suuuuuper Matt.

I agree, quality player, we should have a left footed midfielder in the left midfield position. It's beyond me why we don't.

Didn't stop Downing;)
Actually Richards came into the England setup via a very dire City team last season.

Tevez has prolly got some of that there Argie Welsh blood in him. That'll be it.
It's probably the other way round - there's an awful lot of Argentinians of Welsh descent in (southern) Argentina - hoes back to when they were building the railways there.

I've heard Simon Clifford, who coached him as a youngster, suggest that midfield will end up being his best position. There's a tendancy for coaches to assess a player in part by his physical stature, and because Richards is so big they want to stick him at centre back. However, if there's a surplus of players in a position, and England's strongest position in depth is probably centre back, we shouldn't always go by that method. I've heard the same said of Tom Huddlestone, that because he's built like a brick shit house he must be a centre back.

Of course, if a player reaches the ability of someone like Marcel Desailly or Paulo Maldini, they could be world class in more than one position. We can dream.

My mate works with Micah Richards' mum.

This puts me only four or five steps away from Thaksin Shinawatra

That is all

Or 5/6 away from Mpenzas girlfriend (if he's still going out with the ex Miss Belgium).

Think we'll get tested today but hopefull Micah and Dunney can keep them out.
Interesting to see press speculation that Ferdinand and Terry are under threat from him; thing is he's be playing with an inferior defender alongside him in the england setup than he is used to at Citeh:D

Well, Ferdinand's never lived up to the "British Beckenbauer/Baresi" tag, but then he is a "star name" so don't hold you're breathe.

We'll see about that. As a Citeh fan I'm a lot lot happier with a Dunne-Richards combo than I would be with Ferdinand-Vidic. I bet some red would say the same.

Glad Distin has gone as he was prone to playing with his knees rather than his feet but I can maybe see Micah getting shifted back to right backl as neither Corluka or Onouha look 100% comfortable there and either may be switched to the centre.
