Metaphors in hip hop

Superman: where you cum on a girl's back and put a sheet on her so in the morning when she stands up, it's stuck to her like a cape.

me and my girlfriend by 2pac.

Song about his gun that beyonce and jay-z butchered by making it all lovey duvy.

common i used to love h.e.r Tis all about hip hop rather then his missus.

Apathy and celph titled have a lot of metaphors in thier songs as well but not an entire song thats a metaphor as far as i know.

Too many good ones to mention, but "like short sleeves, I bear arms" from Jay-Z on Brooklyn's Finest is one of my faves.

Similie? In Hip Hop?

That would require wit, which the R&B production machine does not recognise as Product
Doubt it extists any longer

"Your reign at the top was short like leprechauns as I crush so-called willies, thugs and rapper dons
Get in that ass quick fast like Ramadan, I'm a rap phenomenon, don dada"

...another great one from Smalls.

Buck 65 Wicked and Weird

Driving with a yellow dog, I95
He's got a smile on his face and big shiny eyes
Up at a decent hour, I never ate yet
Got a little Johnny Cash in the old tape deck
Nothing in the trunk but some base ball gloves
a pair of jumper cables and a set of golf clubs
blanket on the back seat we're in rough shape
sunroof held on with a bit of duct tape
looking for a gas station, better make a list
Fill'er up with regular, I need to take a piss
sexy girl air freshener, snacks and a pinwheel
top up the fluids, clean the bugs off the windshield
not a care in the world, not a how, and a why
no destination, not a cloud in the sky
back on the road not a moment too soon
dish ran away with some other spoon

Wicked & wierd I'm a road hog with an old dog
singing slow songs trying to hold on
Wicked & wierd I'm a rat fish
trying to practice doing back flips on your mattress
(Repeat x2)

Hole in the muffler, ghosts on the shoulder
cough drops, loose change in the beverage holder
to roll down the window you gotta use a wrench
Been thinking about brushing up on my french
Right there in the glove box, if you should look
You'll find 40 parking tickets and a copy of the Good Book
Don't bother looking, you'll never find me
I'm starting from scratch and leaving trouble behind me

Wicked & wierd I'm a road hog with an old dog
singing slow songs trying to hold on
Wicked & wierd I'm a rat fish
trying to practice doing back flips on your mattress
(Repeat x2)

Wicked, wicked, wicked and weird

Wicked, wicked, wicked and weird

Christ almighty, there's a rattle in the wheel well
Dog fell asleep and man, I don't feel well
But all I need is a half decent breakfast
And I'll be back at it, dirty and reckless

5 o'clock shadow, lips like mudflaps
hands like eagle's talons, eyes like hub caps
The further I get, I keep going faster
Whispers in the wind, and cows in the pasture
I have no plans and nothing to prove either
I eat out of a bag and sleep in a movie theatre

The highway's a story teller, I just write it down
Already been beaten, there's no way to fight it now
I just kick back and keep warm on the cold days
And laugh 'cause it ain't like it was in the old days
I figure when I make it to the heavenly gates
They'll be working on my car and playing 78's

Wicked & wierd I'm a road hog with an old dog
singing slow songs trying to hold on
Wicked & wierd I'm a rat fish
trying to practice doing back flips on your mattress
(Repeat x2)

Not sure if it's quite what you're after but it's a wonderful lyric

Either that or some of the Gonzales stuff might be useful

good to see someone quote buck but ya def not gonna be "down with the kids" lol and i think it's too late.

get those kids battling next time.

'..still, i hope your not the nicest of your teamates/im your worst nightmare - your a wack emcees dream-date/a walking target plus an awful artist/what you talk is often fucking garbage' - eyedea

MF DOOM - there ain't no one that writes like DOOM.

My favourite Doom lyric may be useful:

"Average MC's is like a TV blooper,
MF DOOM is like DB Cooper"

from a track called Hoe Cakes.

My favourite metaphor in Hip Hop is from Rakim. He's talking about Creation and (Islamic) metaphysics (which is focussed on 'orbits' and circularity). He likens the movement of the planets to the motions of a scratch DJ:

I blow em through battlezones with chrome for a chaperone,
Blast beats with saxophones - one of the baddest rapper's known,
Every country, city and borough, sidestreet and ghetto,
Isle and alley and meadow, thouroughfares, enough to echo,
When it was one mass of land, with one nation of man,
And the whole mass was ran under one master plan,
Since the world's metamorphis - the planets kept in orbit,
Turntables may spin awkward but needles never skip off it,

Rakim - The 18th Letter (Always & Forever)

From the aptly named Mr. Metaphor:

It's Mr. Metaphor, everybody gather round
Live in stereo sound and very profound
Deeper than a burial ground, I'm aerial bound and shuttin
Comped down as I rock like Charles Dutton
From Gangster Putnam I cut em from every angle
Far from a square cause I wreck when I tangle
Minds I mangle, mic's I strangle in advance
In every circumstance I leave you shook like turbulence
You'll never get this, I'm up in that ass like a tetanus
?Master these? rhymes and drop more lines than Tetris
I'm sicker than asbestos, spraying rhymes like aspesticides
Best to step aside, realize who the best is

And I can slice and dice a Fisher Price MC
that thought he was nice into Minute Rice

Big Daddy Kane

Heh, heh ...memories! :D

The proceeding lines:

And-if-I-may-make-this-one-thing-here-clear,
That's for you not to come near - PERIOD,
Cos I ain't buggin or delirious,
My swift tongue's like a sword, that's how severe it is,

Immortal Technique has got some really hard hitting lyrics..He uses a vast vocabulary in his raps too which always impresses me.If you wanna really freak em out play the "Dance with the Devil",but is pretty brutal talk for an English class.Good idea for your gf's class though.

Some of my favourite wordplay comes from a punk band called No Cash who dabbled in tongue-in-cheek gangsta rap, especially on the song 'Gasoline':

'Yo, I know my Spanish is rusty but my English is Olde'

Classic! Olde English is something gangbangers drink in the States by the way.

Also, from I Wanna Fuck by Necro...

'Let's get you lubed up for anal, spread it, poke it and slip it in like an ATM card / Ass-to-mouth it aint that hard / Must be talking about my smacker that stays hard like concrete streets or steel or adamantium metal.'

See what he did there? A bit strong for an English lesson maybe.

Great idea for a lesson!

something the kidz can relate to :D

..but i dropped out of school so this weeds the highest grade i ever got/
keeping blue slims connecting like a tetris-block/
but the aim of this game is get straight to the top.. -djinntruf

Haha, it's all good though, had a few posted on here that I want to check out. Can't see for the life of me how Necro was ever gonna be the one though...
