Don't waste your time, they are, imho, dire. :D

Thunder and lightning the gods take revenge
Senseless destruction
Victims of fury are cowardly now
Running for safety
Stabbing the harlot to pay for her sins
Leaving the virgin
Suicide running as if it were free
Ripping and tearing

On through the mist and the madness
We are trying to get the message to you
Metal Militia
Metal Militia
Metal Militia

Chained and shadowed to be left behind
nine and one thousand
Metal militia for your sacrifice
iron clad soldiers
Join or be conquered the law of the land
What will befall you
The metallization of your inner soul
twisting and turning

On through the mist and the madness
We are trying to get the message to you
Metal Militia
Metal Militia
Metal Militia

We are as one as we all are the same
fighting for one cause
Leather and metal are our uniforms
protecting what we are
Joining together to take on the world
with our heavy metal
Spreading the message to everyone here
Come let yourself go

On through the mist and the madness
We are trying to get the message to you

death magnet? - must be a excuse for containing zero METAL content :p

No, ive not heard it... IMO Megadeth won the long game by a country mile. Some of their stuff from just a few years ago is still fairly quality.

I take it you never heard the abortion that was Risk? :) Megadeth...meh. Testament!

first 3 are classic, essential
AJFA is good but not as immediate as the prior albums, more technical, didn't like the sound
Metallica, never got into it, was working in a record shop and had it on repeat...ended up hating it but looking back I like it, very smooth, orchestrated
Load/Reload only head them once or twice - no comment
I know I'm in the minority but I enjoy St Anger quite a bit
on intitial hearings I'm pretty into the new one, kind of midway between AJFA and Metallica

Ride the Lightning is my favourite though with MoP a close second, this is the era I got into them and they've stayed with me....

Slayer...Testament??? pfftt Celtic Frost mate

Buy their first three albums and then some Slayer, Testament and Megadeth who are all far far better.

It's fucking weird that out of all the 80s thrash acts it was bloody Metallica who became halfway respectable. They're pretty average tbh

they appear to have a new album out, big review in the guardian today - must admit i know fuck all about them, they seemed to have passed me by - is it worth checking them out? what are their best albums, songs, etc - only thing i can remember about them is that they had something to do with taking action against young 'uns for downloading stuff

Yes absolutely, Metallica are one of the top thrash metal/heavy metal bands ever. My fave album is Master of Puppets but theyre all good up to and including the black album.

Metallica fucking rock

They are arseholes for that whole napster thing and having a band therapist is a fucking sorry state of affairs

And Justice for All and Ride the Lightening are my favourites.

Best songs: Seek and Destroy, Master of Puppets, Battery, One, Creeping Death, Fade to Black, And Justice for All, Orion, Until it Sleeps.

Don't really like much Metallica has done since AJFA.

Ignore the music and instead watch the documentary made about them called Monster. It is absolutely fucking hilarious :D No one could take themselves more seriously, it's fabulous!

Kill em all, Master of Puppets and the black album are the classics

Personally my faves were re-load, black album and garage inc (and S&M is amazing, this is the one id get if i knew nothing about them)

There's a new album coming out and I've heard a couple of songs on youtube (search for Cyanide and Unforgiven III) if those are anything to go by I think it will be a good album!
