Actually I have been looking for some music. So I might just go online and steal some of these albums later.

Come on, the Burial album isn't even his best. It was a real let down after the first.

Laura Marling isn't going to win and that album doesn't deserve to win, but I am totally in love with her voice and hope the songs get better.

Radiohead will win. Just to restore a bit of respect to the prize.

typically tedious selection - does anyone really give a shit about this sunday paper magazine/coffee table music prize? neon neon or shadow puppets for me. as long as it isn't that shite rachel unthank or that totally tedious burial, then, that'll be nice

Clotheared goon :p

Very, very surprised that Portishead's 'Third' isn't there. Kala too.

edit - it is obviously Burial out of that list btw.

Will Third be in next years list as alot of this years list came out in 2007?

I went for Elbow, maybe not musically ground-breaking but a great album. Radiohead was good but not their best, Burial mmmm its good but not that good. Maybe it's a London thing or I just need to listen through better speakers.

I think Burial might win though, it seems the album everyones been talking about for the last year.

The Burial album is head and shoulders above everything else on that list. Then again I seem to be about the only person who thinks Untrue was better than the first one.

No, I agree totally. Untrue was a big improvement for me too

The Radiohead one's the best out of that lot.

But then I've only heard that and the Burial one.

Didn't stop me voting, though. Oh no. I should be on the panel. :D

Burial, followed by Elbow and Radiohead. The rest (with the expection of British Sea Power's one, good but nothing extraordinary) I haven't heard yet.

Actually, thinking about it, I have heard the Elbow one and the Robert Plant one.

The Elbow ones alright if a bit , er, 'anthemic'. Didn't think much of Percy's offering.

Does she actually qualify as a UK artist though? Fuck knows how the qualification criteria work..

There must be some weird rule for her not to be on the list cos frankly I'm baffled.

M.I.A - born in Hounslow, left for a bit, came back. Great record: no nomination.

Antony - born in Chichester, left for a bit, never came back. Okay record: Winner 2005.

Maybe you're exempt if you're born in Hounslow?

Imagine how much editor will explode with excitement if the Portico Quartet won?
I'd only "explode with excitement" if I'd managed to book the band for another Offline. Which I haven't, despite mailing them several times over the last couple of years.

Mind you, you can still see them at the Ritzy.

I like the Radiohead and Elbow albums from the list.

I thought she was born in Sri Lanka?
Like I say, no idea how the rules work, just wondered if it was a factor

Radiohead or Elbow for me.

I have voted Elbow, as they deserve more recognition.

Burial bore me to fucking tears and the Last Shadow Puppets album was surprisingly unshit.
