boing! said:what was their acceptance speech?

twisted said:I'm sure it will be up on youtube. It was rather exuberant and, well, actual speech was a problem for a couple of them.
I sort of know them vaguely and they've come along way in a very short time, had lots of crtiticism from the very start, were not seen as real contenders and the emotion just got a bit much. It was really just a genuine overspill of emotion rather than an acceptance speech as such as they seemed really stuck for words. Think they dismantled the podium too but not in a showy rock star way; think they had vision problems as well![]()
That's kind of the point isn't it?Paulie Tandoori said:Nu-rave? Sounded like tired old NY art-rock to me
Paulie Tandoori said:S'funny how the Winehouse is castgiated for her drug usage and abusage, yet when the Klaxons received their award, the wee lad in the gold lamé shirt was so coked up, his jaw almost dislocated whereas the big fat lad with the broken foot was so off his bonce that he kept having whiteys, sweating profusely and looking like he was gonna feint.
twister said:innit. They were twatted to the max, I bet they thought 'we've done our song, we aint going to win, let's get on it big style'.

Nu Rave = sounds a bit like New Wave + they all love pills, hence the rave bit.
twister said:The 'best' moment had to be when they went upstairs to chat to jo wiley, she passed the one in the gold shirt the mic, he took it, stared wided-eyed at the camera and then let go of the mic for it to thud on the floor without speaking.. i almost died laughing![]()
then the tall one got on the mic anc chatted absolute bollox with jools standing next to him going 'um, yeah'

The_Reverend_M said:I quite like The Klaxons. Not the best thing ever (or even last year to be fair) but enjoyable none the less. 'Gravity's Rainbow' is a tune.

"It's an album that could only ever have been made in Britain, could only ever have been made at this moment in time and it's a multi-layered album." ..."You can argue that ultimately [Amy Winehouse's] is a backward-looking album and one of the things Klaxons have tried to do is produce something that feels like it came from the future."
