A bit of an odd signing on the face of it. He's been on the books of Barnet, Wealdstone and Braintree without playing much first team football, then slipped into the depths of county league football, and doesn't appear to have played for anyone since November. I was told he's worked with Brad before and is someone he keeps "on call" for emergencies. I don't think he had a save to make until the equaliser, and just before that he flapped at their first corner of the afternoon before someone cleared it off the line when it would probably have sailed straight in. I don't like to write off anyone after one game, but Arber Grosha seems a bit unlucky not to have been given the same opportunity when he's been training with us all season and didn't let us down against Charlton. Hopefully Dillon Barnes is available next weekend.

Bringing an emergency replacement in suggests Quinton doesn’t fancy Grosha, which I’m sure has done his confidence the world of good.

Big ask for a young player to come in, in front of over 3,000 people, and who hasn’t been playing regularly at anywhere near a comparable standard, with a lot still on the line. One of those decisions that gets lauded if it works out, but looks poor if it doesn’t.

Firmly the latter on this occasion, and purely on the shoulders of the manager - but at the same time, the first of his signings that hasn’t worked out.

As you say Pink Panther, hopefully Barnes is back soon.

Sadly no great surprise. He looked an excellent young player, from the little we saw of him:

Assumed German and Ross Marshall were first choice centre backs before the start of the season - think they played roughly 300 minutes together, with Marshall at right back for most of that.

Was Ross Marshall even here at the start of the season? Thought it was German and Chambers?

He played as a triallist in at least one pre-season game, but was suspended for the opening game of the season. He started at right back for the next 3 games, got injured, then didn't return until November.

Looks like a perfect deal for all to me in that we get to recall him should Dillon Barnes suffer any further injuries?

The one query is who has first call in the event of both managers wanting his services on the same day. Hampton's social media only mentions signing him as cover for the regular keeper, who is an England U20 International on loan from Chelsea, there's no mention of our club. His National League registration was previously held by Welling. Someone on the Hampton forum mentioned a regular understudy who warms up with the matchday squad, but clearly isn't seen as ready to start a National South match. Hampton are neither promotion contenders nor at risk of relegation.

Incidentally, I heard from a friend that Arber Grosha would have played against Lewes but told the management he wasn't confident enough to start a league game. Hence the mysterious emergency signing of Alfie Marigliani, who was still in our pre-match group against Cheshunt after being an unused substitute at Potters Bar.

Is there a webpage that shows our team selection each match in a grid format so you can compare movements week to week?
When I wrote match reports for the old website there was a template for uploading the team in formation, but it wasn't very user friendly and it took me a while to work out how to use it. From memory it appeared separately in a match stats page rather than alongside the report. Either the new website doesn't include this feature, or no one uses it.

We've been consistently playing variations of a 3-4-3 formation with a narrow front three since the Sutton Common Rovers game, sometimes with Kaunda sitting just behind the other two in a 3-4-1-2, and sometimes with Kaunda and one other sitting just behind the third in a 3-4-2-1. The back three has consistently been Mason (right) and Wynter (left) either side of Chambers, with SBJ and Scott or Kresh as the centre midfield pair. Mark Marshall has been one of the wing backs in all these games, but not always starting on the same side, and sometimes swapping sides with the other during the game.

Apparently it’s non-league deadline day - will be interesting to see if the club think we’ve done enough in the league to not warrant more outlay.

In the past couple of years we've waited until the Saturday team announcement to reveal any deadline day recruits, although that may have been because of the previous manager's wishes, so a lack of news today won't necessarily mean no one has come in.

There seems to have been a lack of pre-game day announcements all season. Occasionally there’s been a photo of the new player in the warm-ups, more often a new name on the team sheet with a promise of ‘more information in the coming days’, which then often doesn’t come.

Would be interesting to understand if that’s intentional, and if it is, what advantage it’s trying to achieve.

Because one Krasniqi just wasn't enough!

Played against him a few years ago and seen him for Dover. He was alright and does some good things now and again.
Match preview for tomorrow confirms that the original Krasniqi is out for the rest of the season with a knee injury - so seems like this is very much a signing to rebalance the Krasniqi quota.

One of those players who gets about - spells at Braintree, Dover, Chelmsford, Hemel Hempstead, Aveley, Maidstone and Billericay over the last few seasons. Majority at the level above, though, so fingers crossed.

He played under Brad for Hemel Hempstead, so he's a known quantity for the manager. Made 14 appearances (2 goals) in a 3 month loan to Billericay during the middle of this season before returning to Maidstone, where he made 18 appearances, including one start and two from the bench in their last 3 matches.

There are a number of new website features coming over the summer so I will put this on the list and look at how we might do it.

Hassan Ibrahiym confirmed as having left in the match preview for tomorrow.

And a week after returning to running, Ross Marshall and Ralfi Hand are now unlikely to feature again this season.
