Men's jeans

Yeah, they look like the thing! Just regular jeans. Where do I buy them from then?

Always worth an ebay, or they have their own shop in Covent Garden (full price, mind)

Maybe? Might not have the basic range though.

No shortage of those pissy jeans in TK Maxx. Someone told me everything in TK maxx is there for a reason, and i now believe it. The amount of shit I have bought from there only to get it home and realise later it's crap is incredible. I have two pairs of Levis, and a pair of Hugo Boss jeans all waiting to be sold because I don't fcukin know how to buy clothes. Grrrrrrrr

my friend...

you want Helmut Lang jeans. exactly what you described that you want. maybe around £100 - £120 but as with all WELL MADE clothes well worth every penny of the extra money as they will last for years after many big brands or cheaper makes have worn through and fallen to bits .

NB: that said, best jeans money can but IMO are APC 'New Standard'.

you can get both in Libertys or try ebay/online for bargains. :)

no - don't .

you will look like an extra from Hollyoakes in a scene that's meant to be set in an Albanian 'rock disco'.

what the fuck is with that grotesque 'marbling' around the pockets and the weird brown tinge. it looks like they've been dipped in sewage then held up for a stable-full of priapic horses to spray their jizz over.

i don't like the embroidery on the back pockets of nudie jeans.

neither do i.

plus the pockets on the ass are too low cut. deliberately so as their designers are labouring under the misapprehension that all Da Yoot who wear jeans wear them 'low slung' and hanging down their arse like they have a prolapsed colon.

Incidentally, a lot of those companies (Nudie, Acne, Edwin etc) actually use the same twill of denim as that used by Uniqlo (at approx a 1/4 of the price) as it is all produced by the same factory in, i believe, Osaka)

Right, I'm off to the West End. Recommend shops please!

from this thread so far....

I can echo the Uniqlo suggestion for price and construction quality - their denim is sourced from the Kaihara mills, all below £40.

Nudie (Regular Ralph Dry Selvedge) RRDS would fit the bill perfectly as they're a bootcut and they're a great starter jean if you're planning to get into raw denim. They're vanity sized so you need to size down one or two from your normal waist size. If you don't like the arcuates, and I'm not a fan, you can always unpick them before the first soak. Prolly about £100ish.

If money's no object, go to American Classics for LVCs, Lee Japan, Sugar Canes, Studio D'Artisan and various imported Japanese denims. Don't expect much change from £200, but the quality is unsurpassable. Cinch stock the complete current season's LVC catalogue - £150ish. There are some online outlets and proxies that will allow you to import from Japan, but it's really obsessive 'next level' shit that becomes satisfyingly addictive.

Ended up buying the 7 for all mankind jeans. They were faded grey with lycra. They fit sooooooooo well!

I got some lycra jeans from the charity shop because I was poor. They fit OK but they make me :( whenever I wear them.

I'm going to go and buy a pair of selvedge jeans right now to make up for it!

After reading this post I spent a little while researching Japanese denim and found myself on Japanese auction sites, looking at jeans for just shy of a grand. Some of them were amazingly crafted, with some fabulous detailing, but the pair that had the cut I had most respect for were, unfortunately, ripped to fuckery, I understand that there's a cachet in "wear", but I can't understand it- I don't understand how someone else fucking up my trousers constitutes an artful improvement that I couldn't have achieved myself with a pair of scissors, a bucket of paint and some sand-paper. I guess it's partly because no-one has the balls to self-massacre their extremely expensive denim (maybe in case it looks shit??) but it's totally ok to buy off-the-peg fucked-denim because someone has deemed that it's ok, and it's been mangled by people who know what they're doing.
I also witnessed some £500 dungarees :D! If I had money to burn I'd have bought them just to exhibit

The way to give jeans a worn look is to wear them.

I want my jeans to

Have a waist hole and two leg holes
Be 32" at the waist and 36" in the leg
Be blue
Not compress my genitals

That's all.
