Memento - worth watching?

I didn't like it. Thought it was really hard going.
How do you mean? Because it doesn't have a happy ending, and nothing particularly good happens to the main character?

you have to actually watch it?

god I hate films like that ...

It's super fucking awesome - one of my all-time favourites.

Bears up to huge amounts of repeat viewings and throws up new and interesting questions every time.

Sharp, intelligent, original, unnerving, thrilling, funny and with a stand-out turn by Guy Pierce, it should be in everyone's DVD collection.

It's got rave reviews at rottentomatoes.com. Had it on my hard drive for months, haven't got round to watching it yet.

Yep, I'd like to see it again sometime.

I really enjoyed it, loved the whole writing on photos, and the Sammy Jenkas (sp?) storyline. Thought the structure was excellent, just one revelation after another as well :) Well impressed, thanks all :)

i have to say it's one of those films where you feel for the main charcter right up until the last minute... then you relasie all the actions are acutally very fucked up the subtext is lovely... the constants which alter slightly are well done too...

I don't think I could name another movie that does such an incredible job of putting you "in the shoes" of the lead character.

The way the information is fed to you and of course, the fact that the whole movie is chronologically reversed and ordered into chunks corresponding to periods of his recollection is a fantastic technique and gives you a feeling of tremendous empathy for Leonard.

dito all that,

as some of you have mentioned, on the dvd, their is an easy to find easter egg that allows you to watch in the "correct" order. both ways are equally good and leave you questioning at the end.

Just don't try and watch it stoned. :D

I've just lent it to someone and they told me last nigh that he was totally baffled by it.

He was stoned though and I did tell him NOT to get stoned :D

I love this sort of film, can anyone recommend similar? I really liked the way it makes the viewer feel Leonard's frustration and confusion, and his distrust of everyone around him. And his distrust of his own memory...

Can you let me know what it is cos I remember messing about for bloody ages trying to find it?

Why do think it was crap?

That was my question two. A film so lauded by so many Urbanites with impeccable good taste surely deserves a better brush off than "it was crap"

I still don't quite understand why the policeman lets Guy Pearce go around killing people.

Surely he can't be that corrupt?

My favorite bit of the film is near the end when he's trying to remember what Carrie-Anne Moss has just told him, looking for a pen to write it down, in a mad panic. Brilliantly done.

He doesn't let him kill people. He uses Guy's disability to manipulate him into killing people that he wants killed. For example bad guys, such as drug dealers.

************spoiler Alert*****************

And he recognises that he will never get revenge, so its likely he will just go around killing people forever, making up his own evidence. Technically he should be locked up but he pities him as its really not his fault and he had such tagedy in his life.

The best point is that he ends the loop. Has the picture with 'This is the man...' has the tatoos and has a picture of him dead for the first time. Basically the cop ended the loop by being set up, guy knew this and made the most of it while it was in his memory.

How is that a spoiler?
