Megson to go to Bolton, Leicester to look for 3rd manager of the season!

Mandaric has denied he's even thought about it, but there appears to be a considerable amount of smoke for no fire.

Disappointed it's not Tigana, as had seemed a couple of weeks ago.. ah well.

Seems Holloway is to be Leicester's new manager. Not unhappy with the appointment, just hope he can deal with MM and the massive expectations of the fan base.

Not official yet though, just the word from people in the know. There's still a strong suggestion that this is a smokescreen and Dowie is the real target.

I'm very disappointed with this, after criticism at Capaldi & Buszaky leaving for payrises - Holloway goes and does the same. I thought more of him than this, I think all Plymouth fans did.

Bugger.

It raises the oft asked question as to whether there's any loyalty left in football? There's rarely any evidence of it.

Apparently one of the reasons is that there's a very good school for deaf kids really near the Walker's Stadium and his kids are deaf? God knows... but wasn't said in jest.

Holloway was fucked off about broken promises from the Gargoyles board apparently. Mainly to do with funding for backroom staff and the buying and selling of players.

I've calmed down a bit today.

It's a similar feeling to 'just been dumped' - Flitting between anger/depression/confusion/feeling used, but at the same time I still really like and want the best for them. Despite this, you also have the guilty pleasure of knowing that the person they've left you for could treat them like shit.

Worst thing is - most of those managers linked with the Leicester job are now linked with us (and worse). Peter Reid, Joe Royle, Steve Cotterill, John Gregory et cetera.
With any luck, its the usually merry-go-round of names, and in reality no-one has a clue.

Maybe Megson could get the job, thus changing the managerial merry-go-round we're currently experiencing, into some sort of managerial mobius strip.

Megson has unquestionnably improved Bolton immeasurably.

I agree... as much as he comes across, and has the managerial history, of a relative incompetent, it would be nice to see "football opinion" forced to admit it knows fuck all when / if he makes Bolton into a success.

edit: i should of course point out that I thought he would be a disaster as well

edit: also lol @ Jeff Stelling on Soccer Saturday forgetting that Sky is forever beholden to the "big four" when choosing what game to show in its entirity.

It's hard to ask for loyalty from a manager IMO, given that everyone knows as soon as things aren't going well the club will have them out of the door in about five minutes.

the fact of doubling his wages from £5k to £10k p/w had nowt to do with it either? sell-out as seems to happen all too often imo. no loyalty at all now, simply self-interest....

problems with the Plymuff board undoubtedly made it easier to go. This comes from someone who has extremely good connections in West Country football and knows.

Yeh, i know, my brother has heard similar stories re: ructions with the board but it does gall a bit when you read things like this only the week before he goes:

Plymouth Argyle manager Ian Holloway has rubbished reports suggesting he is about to leave the Pilgrims. The former QPR boss has been at Home Park since June 2006, but a story in a national newspaper intimated he was disillusioned with life in Devon. However, Holloway has hit back at the story, saying:

"Ask anybody who knows me how I feel about Plymouth Argyle and they'll tell you the truth. If you need me to say it again, I'm in love with the place. It's absolutely magnificent. Ask my players who I'm trying to talk into staying here how I feel about Plymouth Argyle. I think they'll tell you the truth. It's all poppycock, if I'm allowed to use that word. It's absolutely pathetic. But the media is a very powerful thing and, unfortunately, a rumour can become a bigger rumour."

Ah well, time to move on i suppose (and there's not much moral high ground at Home Park anyway, what with them nicking Sturrock back off the Dons). I give Oli about a 6 months max under mad-man Madaric before there's fireworks and another new boss at City.....

He's only biding his time till our board fucks off, then he'll come home :)

From BBC Football's gossip page today as reported in a couple of newspapers.
Usually tabloid gossip is made-up rubbish, but in the case of Leicester I wouldn't be suprised at all:

Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric is ready to replace manager Ian Holloway with sacked Coventry boss Iain Dowie if results do not improve. (Sun)

But it could be Billy Davies, who was sacked by Derby earlier on this season, coming in for Holloway as the new Foxes boss. (Daily Mirror)

Yeah, I've seen the rumours as welll.... Davies I could half understand, if I was pretending to be Mandaric. A pissed Madaric. Dowie just got sacked from a rival for his team being worse than ours... explain to me how that's a good idea, coupled with yet more instability in the squad.

Who'd have thought when Mandaric took over that he'd completely fuck the fans over? :(
