MCs in dnb

MCs should compliment a DJ's set. Not the other way round.

I totally agree with you - like Odds said, if the promoter books an mc then they should make sure the mc is on with a dj who they work well with... it's just common sense really. No point putting mcs on the mic if the dj playing the set hates mcs...

I blame promoters ;) :D :p

xXx

We used to have Foxy and Fatman D mc all the time at the nights we used to put on at Uni and they were both wicked.

Although I did make the mistake of asking Foxy to be quiet during a particularly well rehearsed intro to a "battle" set we were doing only for him to tell me "you do your fucking job, I'll do mine".

As he's about 4 times my cubic volume I didn't labour the point any further.

Ouch!

He is the maaaaan !

Also , Cleveland Watkiss.
GQ.

Sorry ; but have you ever been to a drum and bass night ? MC's are part and parcel of how the whole scene evolved. Sure there are plenty of crap ones , but there are some shit hot ones as well.

SP:MC and DRS are my two favourites. Absolute badness!

Shouting and yibbering ain't really their thing. It's all about delivering a smooth, deep flow with melody and knowing when to let the music do the talking. Suited to deeper dnb at more intimate nights.

Not to say they can't hype a crowd. SP can stand next to the bigboys at raves.

summed up in one :)

Drum n bass nights are pretty pony without an mc. Its all part of the sound and I just get bored without an MC. Fearless is my favourite ever

I think may be you are listening to a completely different style of music to me.

Music must be pony then. Most styles of electronic dance music seems to survive purely based on the quality of the records being played.

R.I.P

Aww man that takes me back!! (Gonna have to find some now!!)

Some Mc's are good, some of the re-re-rewind ones are shite and just shout

Ishu has a very sexy voice which helps and he knows when to TFU

I asked him saturday if he was MCing "Well I'm not on the bill..." :D he said

Yeh, he went on with Deadlock and I havent danced so much in ages!!

ergh..
..MCs:mad:
You're trying to watch the film..listen to the good bits only to have one twat talking all over it..
..only time I've every understood how an MC can fit in was when hearing Maxm on Death of the Prodigy Dancers or Conrad with Bukem..
..I'm still traumatised from hearing an MC at a tekno squat party on NYE..I haven't been the same since:eek:

Nah I don't have a problem with mcs. Is it a party, not a concert.

Though I cannot understand them for the life of me.

Yes, I was at that party, I am afraid you just have to expect that at some point in the party when a certain rig is on!
I felt really sorry for the DJ who had it going on all through his set.

Yeah, I just thank my lucky stars the Malfaiteurs don't pull that kind of shit.

The same fella was out Sat night / Sun morning this weekend too- on the E1S/Redeye linkup. Like I said before though, it doesn't seem to matter so much when you're off your head!!
