Mayweather v Baldomir... Welter belter tonight.

Also handy i must disagree with you in a big way about fitness , Mayweather eats lives sleeps boxing 352 days a year not like Hatton who ballons between fights not the acts of a consumate pro .

I never once questioned Mayweathers fitness,he fought Gatti on a Saturday night and was back in the gym Monday morning, dedication.

Hatton fought Tszyu on a Saturday night an was back on the Guiness Sunday lunch,in a daft shirt competition.

The point i was making was this, when Hatton trains it is 100% for about 12 weeks before the fight.I've seen him train live,it is something to behold.

He,IMO has to train this hard because of the weight he puts on between fights, arguably this will shorten his career.

ETA why 352 days a year?

Thats not how it sounds in your first post , But not to matter i no now . I think Mayweather would be fitter overal than Hatton imho . If it goes ahead is a different kettle of fish . I magine a world with one belt and no boxing politics !! that would go a long way to solveing some of the shite that occurs at present .

Doh !

Not concentrateing there . he he youve made me go red .

Mayweather was the better boxer, but with the step-up in weight, his punches didn't hurt Baldo. Floyd looks a like a nightmare to box, the way he slips punches is incredible; like a commentator said, he makes the other guy look like he's going in slow motion. Alright fight but nowt special, imo. But would be interested to see him have a go with Hatton (altho he seems stuck in the wilderness now sadly).

Emmanuel Stewart,on the commentry said something profound,on hearing PBF had been comparing himself to Sugar Ray Robinson ES said;-"Ray Robinson was knocking out all comers,if PBF is that great why is he backing off from

somebody he can hit at will?

H:)

There is no way PBF should be comparing himself to sugar ray, he is undoubtedly a hall of famer, but sugar is in an exclusive class, and few are in it.

Of course he bloody should. From when Sugar Ray was beaten by Duran in 80 and when he beat Duran in 89, the only names he fought were Hagler, Hearns & Duran. forget everyone else... incl' LaLonde.

Mayweather has made it through Castillo, Corrales, Judah, Gatti, Chavez, Manfredy - and others... at different weights.

he has had a better class of boxer he fought and beat consistently. Sugar Ray was great, for sure... but Mayweather is definitely up there with him. imo anyway.

Mayweather makes boxers look bad he is in such utter control of his opponents. Sugar Ray never really done that, apart from against Duran when he quit.

imo of course.

I read this morning he's after 1 more fight with De La Hoya and then is hanging up his gloves.

For me, Hatton isn't in his class and would be absolutely destroyed. early too... and you know I like Hatton.

I don't know how to read this - are you saying that PBF is quality but he hasn't been in classic fights that will live long in the memory as SRL has?

Or are you saying that PBF isn't fit to lace SRL's gloves in terms of technique?

He may be able to claim parity with SRL do you think he could compare himself with SRR?

Personally i don't rate him with SRL who IMO was a great among greats,i know PBF has claimed some serious scalps but will any of them go down as all time greats like Hagler,Hearns or Duran? Chavez has the biggest claim.

The LaLonde ref was half tongue in cheek, but at least he never looked half dead after round5 ;)

As for Hatton, i never claimed he was in PBF's class as a boxer, clearly he's not.
But as we all know he wont try to box,he'll fight.
If he manages to drag Floyd into a brawl who would you fancy then?
Hatton can brawl wrestle and spoil.

A young Gatti,if you will.Fewer wars,less milage,more Guiness.

To recap:-Hatton +right ref+brawl not boxing-Guiness=PBF Whupped.

IMHO of course.

Nahh i'm a massive Hagler fan but Leonard won it,took me a while to admit it but he did.

Watch the fight, off the top of me head the ninth round stands out.It looked like MH had got SRL where he wanted him,in the corner, and started to load up.Leonard not just fought back but battered Hagler back, across the ring, classic.

I saw the fight, but can't remember the detail, I spoke to an boxing aficonado recently and he called it the biggest 'robbery' he'd seen. From what i recall leonard 'ran' through some of the rounds. Need to see it again though.

no, the biggest robbery involving SRL was the Hearns v Leonard draw......

Hearns knocked him down twice. The crowd were shouting "Bullshit Bullshit"...

:D

back to the Hagler fight -

I thought at the time - when I was in my teens - that Leonard beat Hagler. When I watch it now, I want Hagler to win. It was close imo. But the biggest robbery? nah

Suprised no mention of this.

Thought it was funny.

didn't see the fight, but I'm glad PBF gave merchant that dressing down. Merchant is so disrespectful to boxers (recalls tony v rahman).

I got to see some round courtsey of youtube, no way should hearns have gotten the win. He was out on his feet in two of the rounds I saw. Hearns' defence is notoriously wayward, and his stamina is suspect.
