MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY!

MAYDAY VICTORY CELEBRATIONS
2pm Monday 1 May 2006
Bank of England
(Uniformed Officers Only)

It is our pleasure to announce that the Police Mayday Victory Celebrations will be going ahead as planned. With the "Anarchists" having no plans than a little marching as part of the usual Trade Union March, it is safe to declare that we have won! Yes, finally this ancient pagan day of celebration and disrespect for authority has been conquered - and it's time to have a party.

We encourage all police men and women who would normally be policing the anarchist activities to meet for a big street party outside the Bank of England at 2pm on May 1 2006. Since the lack of any protester activity this year means that we are all missing out on a fair lump of overtime pay, we are requesting that all officers supply food and drinks, and anything else becoming of a uniformed police officer on Mayday, to share with their fellows.

Please forward to all of your colleagues in the station, and post a copy of this up on your officers mess notice board.

The Space Hijackers Police Force.
Making London Safer

NOTES:

1) All officers are expected to be in uniform. Anyone attempting to be funny and arriving dressed as one of the great unwashed hippie or anarchist crowd may feel the blows of our truncheons. Riot vans are welcome although please note that parking restrictions may apply (consult your station master).

2) Police bands are more than welcome, also please remember to bring a radio to listen to the police frequencies.

3) Once again, this is a party for UNIFORMED POLICE ONLY, no terrorist protestors or bank robbers.

Can one get arrested for impersonating a police officer? Quite serious innit?

Only if you actually really really impersonate one.

Having a tourists 'bobby cap' and a random flourescent coat doesn't count ;) Even when wearing black trousers, shoes...

I think you can even get away with your coat having the word police on it provided it is done in a way that is noticeably different to the official writing.

No fake station code and number though. Not that real cops have them on anyway...

These days you can get arrested for anything, like having a picnic in Parliament Square.

If we controlled all of our behaviour by what could and couldn't get us arrested, we would only have breathing and watching KYTV left.

KYTV was the BBC's piss-take of the emerging force of satellite TV.

It wasn't as good as The Day Today, but it was quite good at picking up the insanity that was about to be launched on us.

Today Murdoch's empire of drivel is at least 25% responsible for the turning of the collective British mind into porridge.

See you at the Bank of England on Monday.

Costume, Madame? What do you think this is - some kind of street party?

Do you not realise that those involved on Monday comprise a modern, highly effective police force and that we have serious work to do.

Costumes, indeed. Costumes.

Uniforms. Uniforms. Uniforms.

A question to Bristly Pioneer: will there be much paperwork afterwards, sir?

So wont we be allowed to play if we dont wear fancy dress... I guess we'll get a kicking for being smelly string dog children... :o

There is nothing fancy about my truncheon, and I will not be wearing a dress.

I am a serious law enforcement official. I will supervise any forms of spontaneous public enjoyment and apply a ruthless code of zero toll-E-trance to them. Three General Strikes and you're out of a job.

There is nothing up on the Hijackers site yet however indymedia has some pics:

It was an ace afternoon, with a police themed soundtrack.

"I fought the law and the law won" "I predict a riot" "caught by the fuzz" "Sound of Da Police" etc etc etc.

Unfortunately some of the officers in the more realistic outfits didn't want to play much  and instead stood at the side of the party looking moody. Others of course had a whale of a time.

i considered going along for this one actually, but was otherwise engaged. still, it looks a jolly good time and i've been following the work of the spaec hijackers for a while with amusement.
