Mayday - new mag set to take the movement by storm

Have I got this wrong, but I thought Libertarians were economically extreme right wing capitalists?

Sorry, it's a shit Ghetto cover.

Though cool and stylish too. I am still very black bloc at heart and the aim is to the movement at present, you know, those that actually fight back.

NOT those who foolishly imagine you can speak to an imaginary general public 'just like that' (although they and others never manage to speak to or publish anything for this 'general public' themselves).

Oh No..... :(

really don't understand the purpose behind that. Don't like the look of the chap on the cover either. Looks a bit of a smelly.

why don't you just have a look through some old copies of Xtra and do something like that?

I thought the whole purpose of @ ideas was communicating them to the general public, not alienating any folk who aint already @s who may come into contact with whatever it is you're on about.

Feel free to have a go and send it on.

nah, i just don't gettit. the folk listed as having contributed to this mag are sound and have their heads the right way round, and the mag's got a great name...so why all this fanny-talk bout 'autonomous' this & that and 'praxis' and some bloke who looks like a hunt sab on the cover?

you've got it wrong.

and Attica that's an awful cover, almost as shite as your own politics.

In America libertarian does have the use you describe, I do not know whether anarchists use the term. But in the UK and elsewhere it is an anarchist term.

sorry, the cover is rubbish

Just for balance here is a good quote I have lifted from Indymedia about this magazine (and it wasn't me who wrote it!)

"Cool cover, should get the kids interested while the articles bring in the grownups! Good stuff, I can't wait to buy it."

I think that is a good way to look at it - so perhaps it is cleverer than you might imagine;) :D

I fear attcia may have missed the irony behind the comments he's bigging up as well - the poster (Mike Giggles) does go on to say:

PS: Glad to see you're covering the Wombles, the most important pan class movement in recent European history.

Perhaps he should stick to writing his own comments...safer that way.

I saw that bit - i thought he was exagerating that... The first bit of what he said has truth in it though. here it is again;

"Cool cover, should get the kids interested while the articles bring in the grownups! Good stuff, I can't wait to buy it."

that cover's looks pretty amateurish IMO

If it's not already gone to print, at least sort out the typesetting at the bottom so there's not a / in front of the Autonomous Anti Facism bit at the start of the 2nd line, would make it look slightly less like some bad high school magazine project.

ok, practical and hopefully constructive suggestions re the cover.

it does look pretty piss.

do a good logo. all mags should have a good logo.

if the photo of the guy in the afa hat is meant to be related to the article on anti-fascism, have that as the first title in the contents list, in a large font with all the other stuff smaller (like the cover of new statesman or something)

if that aint the point use another image as that photo looks staged, like something off darren's daft australian cw stickers.

if the cctv sign aint related to a story get rid of it. you're just throwing money away on the plate for another spot colour.

drop the words 'autonomous' and 'praxis' . using them is just giving folk a stick to beat you with.

have a competition or something. to win a car or a holiday or whatever. that'd get more folk buying it. :)

The bloke's beanie hat should be tighter-fitting on the skull. Instead there's lots of material sticking up, making him look like a Smurf doing a Bela Lugosi impression.

Find a pretty girl to stick on the cover instead. If you don't know any, just pay some East European chick in a coffee shop a few quid to pose for the camera.

Writing my own reviews would be sad.:p

Louis MacNeice

I have done no reviews, i am publisizing the magazine against the usual nay sayers like yourself. Fighting the shite and coming out kicking thru' t'other side:p :D

Attica in all seriousness I'd take some of the suggestions on board from chico enrico.

Why are you using words like praxis most people will have no idea what that means. Also why not use a more collective picture of struggle that more people can relate to?

Seriously it just looks like a stereotype of something the right would produce to discredit the left.
