He was excellent in True Detective but I have no recollection of the other two.

I dont think she is hot, and i aint joking. Her face has good symmetry but her lip job is a bad one, and she looks stuck up and pinched to me. Like a very snotty rich person who sneers, and does nothing with herself apart from work out all day. Plus, her wardrobe is awful.

this is the sort of uber-WASPy version of him which some people do indeed find devastatingly attractive. (but it does nothing for me).

Because of these looks he used to get relentlessly pigeonholed as romcom / upper class love interest / do gooder.

In recent years he's messed around a lot more with his appearance and played several roles where he had to be a bit groteque - roid pumped or skeletal or just plain weird - and imho this works better for him. KILLER JOE was a wig-out weirdy film and he was great in that as a stone psycho; even better in MAGIC MIKE as an absolutely reptilian ageing male stripper who exploits women and his fellow beefcakes without mercy.

I am still here. From time to time, anyway.

That is an old comment, and one that hasn't aged well for a few reasons. 1) Liz Hurley has pretty much given up acting and become a full-time botoxed celebrity/celebrity's wife (some would say that's commensurate with her talents); 2) Matthew McC has gone from pretty boy to developing some serious acting chops. There's been a fair amount of divergence for both of them, and the comparison between them as pieces of moderately-talented-eye-candy really doesn't stand up any more.
