i saw a video with him yesterday, nothing special and quite "eurgh!" with the rock/guitar-solo bits...

if you want TRUE "hasidic new wave", you'd be better off checking out John Zorn's Tzadik label- they even have a series with Jewish-inspired musick, a lot of which is very good.

Everyone's basing their opinion on his new stuff which isn't as good.
Try to find (download, borrow?) a copy of "Shake Off The Dust.. Arise", it's way better than Youth...

of course not...just meant hasidic-inspired...
BTW i reckon the composers in Tzadik's "new jewish music"(?don't remember the exact name) series might have very different backgrounds re: level of faith...
it's probably more there as a "flavour" than fully fledged praise...
