Masterchef

Jono squeezed through by the skin of his teeth there. Bone marrow is NOT for pudding.

I like him and Sartash though. They seem to be enjoying themselves which is rare for the professionals.
We are team Santosh and Victor so far. I’d like to like Jono more, but he seems a bit of a dick. ‘I spent six months at Noma and I’m not going to let you forget it.’

ants? In a pudding? No.

Dave from VIctor's group seemed really decent too. I'm also wondering if he may have won it overall as he has closed his restaurant in Didcot to focus on something new apparently.

Monica and Marcus have to split the meals and put them on their own plates too. There was a quite touching bit this week where one of the contestants started blubbing and Monica said she wanted to give him a hug but couldn't.
We're spared the footage but it also looks as if the guest diner critics have to get up and walk around the table to get their food after the contestant brings it in. Like a posh Just Eat.

So tonight’s fourth contestant edited out - what’s afoot?

Having gone on another well-known forum which has a Masterchef thread, one theory is that they had a contract with their employer and being on the programme was a breach.

I was very surprised that no-one speculated that it might have been Covid-related - that was the first conclusion OH and I jumped to.

Although they had an incidence of Covid in the last non-professionals round and it was all very open. They showed the whole episode unedited and just said at the end of the round that Jamie or Matt or whatever his name was had tested positive & had to drop out.

First bloke was a bit lucky to still go through, considering we’re two over already.
We thought tonight's absence might have accounted for them putting more contestants through than they usually would..

...BUT this incident seems to have happened after they did this. Posters, ahem, elsewhere have noted that the trailer for this weeks has been deleted from iPlayer, whereas there definitely was one last week.

Anyway, it's an 'anyone but Jono' from me, so far.

I've been watching the professional one. How can so many alleged professional chefs be so shit?

Yeh, I've noted that in the past - I think you actually get a higher quality on the amateur one once you get to the final rounds.

That guy last night, the cruise ship guy, was the worst I've ever seen.

Looked disconcertingly like 'Tommy Robinson'

I think I'm in a small minority on here in that I don't mind Greg Wallace. He provides a good counterpoint to the professional chefs - he's 'our' representative, asking questions on behalf of the viewer. Yes, he likes his puddings too sweet and his meat overcooked, but he is what he is palate-wise, and he isn't arrogant with it. And he seems genuinely delighted by good food and genuinely fond of the contestants.

I think all three of the judges have mellowed. Monica used to put the fear of god into the contestants. Now shes like a gentle nurse or something.

I don't mind slaphead as much anymore either. I think he knows more about food than he lets on too. He just has to ask the stupid questions and look amazed when Marcus makes a salad.

Grrr, fuck off Jono. Even tho your food looks quite nice.
My OH has developed a pathological hatred of Jono and cringed when I said (even though I don't like him either) that he was a possible finalist.

Bart looks like a very strong possibility for the winner.

I really like the Nepalese fella. Nails it each time with a big smile on his face. I did like Jono but he was a bit of an arrogant wanker tonight so hope he doesn't get much further. I felt sorry for Arran though. He didn't seem very confident in tonight's episode and made silly mistakes but that biryani looked amazing.

Bart has looked a likely winner from the start. He seems a very nice man and is clearly a brilliant chef. I think I've developed a dislike for him because he is a private chef for a billionaire. Can't quite shake that off. Him and Santosh the frontrunners for me, which on my track record means they're doomed.

Reckon Jono will fuck up at some point trying to be too clever. Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke.

Felt a bit sorry for those leaving today. I think Jamaar was stumped by the nature of the challenge, while I'd possibly want to eat Aaron's food more than anyone else's.

Curry!

Akhtar's food looked amazing.

I definitely think my palate is closest to Monica's. She liked Bart more than the others. I reckon I would have as well. Philly's monkfish looked fantastic, though.

Andrew seemed such a lovely bloke too, which is good because those poor fuckers had the much harder task. It's the only round where I've thought I wouldn't have a clue where to start. I mean, I'm obviously not a professional chef, but I understand everything else.

Team Santosh all the way now Luke is out. I don't mind any of them entirely - Philly has an annoying name and voice, Henning Wehn works for super posh *****, Jono is an arrogant git, but god his food looks good.

We're definitely post-Ramsey nowadays. Chefs are allowed to be nice. Felt a bit for them on the dim sum challenge, but so did Andrew.

Philly has an annoying nervous laugh, but actually seems really nice. Genuinely amazed to be in the final. Jono, on the other hand, will be really pissed off if he doesn't make the final three, so I'm hoping he doesn't make the final three. Suspect he will, though. Jono, Bart and Santosh for the last three.
