MasterChef - The Professionals

He reminds me of Peter Cushing and the other one looks like Crazy Frog......I too would have winced at lavender ice cream...the best man won and I shed a sea salt tear when he was crowned.....amazed at Marianne's butcher dad upbringng...I had her in the pony club and a semi royal background....more sloan than silverside.

Steve looks like the guy from last years The Restaurant.

Plus he's piled on a few pounds.

And he's lost his useless sidekick.

The final really wound me up. It was a 90 minute show full of a 45 minute recap/filler.

The X-Factory style 30 minute filler sob stories (dead dad, crap at school, failed relationship) particularly grated me. It's a fucking cooking competition, not a biography or popularity contest. After that I didn't want any of them to win in particular

Best bloke won but it was no surprise really.. the show was so heavily edited in his favour from the beginning of the week it would have been impossible for him not to win.

OR...he was actually the best chef there.

yeah, the final was a bit of a let down really, if the competition was closer, it would've been more interesting, btu it was obvious he was much better that the other two. was only worth watching to see if he made any mistakes in the last cook-off. he didn't. he won. end.

He deserved to win, he was way ahead of the other two. Programme could have been half the length, but that's how they make these shows.

The opportunity to not have to see Michel Roux Jr look at you with his murderous eyes anymore.

A worthy prize.

actually, every other previous winner now works for him at La Gavroche.

No surprises at all, it had to be Steve, clearly an exceptional talent. The only reasopn he might not have won is that he grew less as a chef, whereas we saw marianne and daniel improving all the time, so who knows where they could have gone....Marianne was unlucky if she'd hade five more minutes she would probably have concentrated on that sauce a bit more so it didn't burn and prettied it all up a bit, and then....she'd still have lost to Steve.

I think Marianne was way too nervous and her hands way too shaky. And she always looked as though she was about to burst into tears.

While I thought her cooking was pretty amazing and she did seem to have an exceptionally good idea as to what good food was all about, she struck me as someone who probably is more suited to carrying on doing what she's doing, being a personal chef. I didn't think she'd be able to hack the pressure of working in a top rank commercial kitchen day in day out. She did seem to have developed a bit of confidence and self-belief by that last episode though, which was good to see.
