Massive Ikea sale on Saturday

My wardrobe shelves have fell apart, the back of it fell off ages ago, my drawers are in the garden ready to go to the tip and my bed, well I had to use parts of said broken drawers to fix it last night after the slats fell through the bed AGAIN t'other night.

IKEA stuff is shit unless you leave it alone and dont use it.

And as for the windowless fucking labyrinthine stores......

t have been to Ikea today to obtain a Ikea family card on the advice of that money saving website. I spoke to 2 staff members there and they said they have been pretty much in the dark about most stuff and for the past few weeks customers have been telling them stuff. There was tannoy announcements for staff to make sure they had received their T-shirts for Saturday

It seems as though family card holders only (most Ikea regular customers) can enter store between 6-8am. I'm aiming to get there for 6 in a bid to be in and out. I'm hoping the sofa I want has the 21% off otherwise I'm not buying it just yet. I'm not planning on visiting any other part of the store as the sofa is all I need and I had a hassle free mooch this morning.

Thank you for posting the thread Geri as not sure I would have about it otherwise or in time :)

i'm sorry, what?!

that would have sent me over the edge, if i wasn't at that point already, which if i was in IKEA i probably would have been...

Well I did launch into a bit of a tirade about 'you always think about yourself, you forget about me blah blah blah' and stormed outside to smoke. :D

Tahnks for that, I'll send him down there at 6 then! :o Re; the Ikea Family card, you don't get points on it do you? You get savings on some products (and free tea and coffee  )

And echo the last bit.

Crap. We have 5 or 6 bookcases which are full to bursting with heavy books (I'm talking several thousand books here) and the quality is great.

The last bookcases we had couldn't take the weight and the shelves bowed in the middle and we had to throw them away.

Maybe you just buy the shoddy stuff.

I think general consensus on IKEA furniture agrees with me

Then again I did buy a 'bedroom set' of drawers, bed and wardrobe so maybe its my fault for not buying individually. Or someshit like that.

Ok. Just checked Ikea wbsite and it's deffo 21% off everything..:) My sofa I want is the Tylosand at £685 in purple. How much exactly will I fingers crossed be paying with the discount ?

I do like the Swedish-branded supermarket (in the Croydon branch, presumably it's the same elsewhere).

They sell the world's best biscuit for dunking in coffee. Fact

Oh and my new favourite jam: cloudberry.

I went to Ikea, by myself, for the first time ever yesterday.

I have a lovely new desk and pot plant, it was quite civil on a wednesday morning.

Stores Open at 6am free breakfast until 8am to those with a Ikea family card - - -

I "popped in" one Thursday afternoon I was off work a couple of weeks ago ... got there at 3, got out at 5, spent as much time queuing as I did cruising the wares ....

But got a really lovely, plain but classy looking, light fitting, a good king size duvet cover, laundry basket and some smelly tealights.

And the woman who directed Bend It Like Beckham was there shopping for rugs (Neasden shop).

I like the light fitting, want to get another one - but it was less than £15, don't know if I can be arsed to go Saturday, it's ten minutes from me, so I'll go some other time.

Ok. I'm about to get off to bed as I'm aimimg to be at Ikea for 6am..:o It should take me more than 20-30 minutes to drive there.

Are you going to the Wednesbury one? It'll be packed. I'd leave now if I were you. :D

I'm not telling my friend about this, they spent about a grand on wardrobes and stuff from there recently!

Oh don't! I did just think that perhaps I could have borrowed my BFs campervan and stayed overnight...but then I thought that was just silly ...

Yeah to Wednesbury. Gonna leave here at 05.30. I'm only visiting the sofa area and it's straight to the desk to order it...or straight to waiting in a que.

I'm nervous too!

Good luck! Let us know if you ever get out of there won't you! :D

Apparently they are expecting 100,000 people at the Bristol store. Rovers are also at home so it will be utter chaos. I am going to walk down there later just to have a look at the mayhem. :D

I'm back...:) I got there at 05.50 and the que outside was fairly big but once it got moving to go it was Ok. I moved fast and I was about number 6 inline to order my sofa..:) The ques for ordering sofas, kitchens, bedroom were getting quite big though with the kitchen there is an offer of a voucher valid for a few days with the 21% discount in order to keep the waiting to the minimum.

There was a free breakfast and after 11am there is a free lunch and both looked good though I didn't hang around to eat.

In total I spent £550. £541.15 was on my sofa (Im so excited this my FIRST ever brand new to me sofa) and the rest on bits n bobs.
