Mass Effect

I am truly loving this game, just found some new bits of the Normandy that I never new existed.. my office and the bridge?? Plus the extra-curricular stuff with Kaidan!!
Joker is cool too, and it was a shame Wrex had to die... The Citadel is like a maze but that makes it more interesting, and driving/shooting in Mako is lush.
Just when I think the gameplay might be getting a bit generic something amazing happens.. Am looking forward to 2 and 3..

I wasn't a fan of 2, Epona. I don't mind fps (or third person shooter in this case, 3ps? tps? pfft) but it went too far in that direction for my liking. For that series, anyway. And it felt really fractured, with the mission complete screens and so on. You could see the bones of the game, you knew you were playing a game, whereas in the original you were immersed in the universe. I mean, the game mechanics showed themselves plenty, with the pausing and the inventory screens and so on, but getting from place to place was a lot more fluid.

They brought a lot of that back in 3, and it felt a lot more cohesive imo. I did actually like some of the improvements to combat that 2 brought, although they stripped it back a bit too much with too few powers, but in 3 it felt a lot slicker, more powers, everything worked well together. I love 3 a great deal. I don't mind if I never play 2 again tbh, but I don't hate it, I just prefer the others.

The original is the best though, despite its age and lack of slick delivery. The story is excellent, the villain is perfect, the pacing is great especially towards the end, the moment where you become a spectre is one of my most memorable video game moments, Virmire is utterly amazing, as is everything that follows.

Yeah. Love it.

I'm lost.. on the roof of the citadel where there are train lines etc? Surrounded by Geth and I keep being killed, I think I failed to do something in the Citadel Tower will try again tonight...

I managed to finish the main mission of the game whoohoo!, then couldn't go back and do the side assignments :(
So I started a new campaign and was able to port my character into it with all the saves (pre-final showdown)... so I can now go back and do the assignments...phew.
But just out of interest is there an easier way to do this without starting a new campaign?

So I realised that I couldn't go back to the citadel using my old character so started a completely new game. Am back on Therum, a place I love, the handling of Mako on the rough terrain, shooting geth at long range, the vast expanses surrounded by lava.. Love it.
I also managed to scan the keeper at the base of the citadel tower for the first time too :)
I still can't seem to find Flux without the teleport though..

I wanted to edit my posts in this thread to take out spoilers and change the post where I said I recently discovered the Normandy's bridge, to the engineering section.
But I can't edit my posts..
Have ME2 arriving this week..
