Marrying a Palestinian ? Leave the country.

Moono: Yes, Centrism equals fascism. Got it. Thanks for the tip.

Garfield: You obviously haven't the slightest clue about Israel's political landscape. No left wing? what would you call the ICP? How about parties that mae ICP look like Likud? Please start studying the issue if you are truly this interested.

Kadimah is "right wing?" You don't know the slightest thing about Israeli politics [obviously] and I suspect you have never even seen the Kadimah Charter or platform. How would you attempt to define an Israeli party by the politics of another nation? That is insane.

I've been fololowing Israeli politics for some considerable time and given your ideologically ignorant remarks regarding the nature of socialism, I can say it is you who is bullshitting.

Kadimah are right wing and so are you. Get over it.

Probably a manifestation of that existential problem that so many Americans appear to have:

The inability to see beyond binary oppositions. i.e. if LIKUD are "right-wing", then KADIMAH must be "left-wing", much in the way Labor is still held to be "left-wing. The fact of their being "left" of LIKUD does not, however, mean that they practice politics and pursue policies that can actually be quantified as "left-wing".

But hey, Rachamim knows everything, so yet again everyone else is wrong and Rachamim is right.

Exactly, but the mainstream parties have all blurred the right/left boundary so that terms such as "right" and "left" no longer mean anything. The true right and left parties are to be found at the extreme ends of the ideological spectrum; and even they will play the game if they are tempted with a seat at the cabinet table.

Kadimah was created by a rightwinger who was impatient with is own party's (Likud) feetdragging and desperate to assert some form of authority, he formed his own party. That fact that Peres jumped ship means very little in my view, he is as opportunistic as the rest of the mainstream politicians anywhere else in the world.

Nino: Yes, my commentsd about socialism. How dare I suggest that Israel was founded and reamined a Socialist nation until 77.

Crazy of me, I know. You are good for laughs though. sort of like one's retarded dog, trying to chase its own tail, ends up falling on its face, can't even do that right. Yet, like the retarded dog, I have grown use to your uselessness. U75 would not be the same with you. Don't worry old boy, you'll get that tail one day!

As for Kadimah's founding...It had nothing to do with Sharon's desire to "exert authority." He had a nmandate of the people. His margin was incredibly high. He did so because like a lot of Israelis [myself included], he realised that it was of the essence to divest the so called "Territories" as soon as possible...as you said, "foot dragging."

Panda: Except that I spent my formative years in Israel, not America. I only came here at 23. Even then I spent most of the year home. I am well versed with Socialism, Israeli and otherwise. Like most Jews, I have a closet full of lefties in my family tree. Addtionally, my mom and all her family are from the former USSR so that I am also well versed in Communism. Finally, good old dad, rest his soul, was of course born and raised in syria. Seems I have the bases covered here but keep up the analyses you guys, good work [sic].

Binary? As if. As I have often said, Israel has one of, if not THE most diverse politrical landscapes on the planet. A taxi driver's party? You have a belief, you can engage it there. Makes the UK look like a one party system.'

Kadimah is left wing? Wrong Panda. Centrism is what it is, neither left nor right. Talk about "binary."

You change your story so often it's hard to keep track.
Previously you've claimed to have been brought up on the east coast in a non-English speaking family, now you're claiming something different.
Even then I spent most of the year home. I am well versed with Socialism, Israeli and otherwise. Like most Jews, I have a closet full of lefties in my family tree. More biography. Is this little lot as malleable as where you grew up?

The diversity is a relic of your parliamentary system and constitution, as is theUK's lack of political diversity.

I didn't claim that KADIMAH is left wing, little warrior. I said (to paraphrase) that they are perceived as left wing because they are right of LIKUD.

Yet again I'll say to you; pay attention to the words on the screen, not the words in your head.

No, Sharon couldn't get Likud to accpet his plans, so he went away and formed his own party. Those are the facts. Israel is not a socialist country nor was it ever a socialist country in the true sense. Labor is not very socialist and nor is Kadmiah.

If I'm a "retarded dog" then you are a pig.

Fuck, even your insults are shite.:D

Panda: You need to take notes. I suggest you trawl the archived threads. I was born in Manhattan, dad from Aleppo, Syria, mom from a small shtetl named Molisemitz in what was Bessarabia, and is now Molodva [actually Trans-Diniester which is in the midst of a secessionist movement]. My mom's family were Bratslav Chassidim and that was pretty much how I was raised. I did not speak English for a few years. It is about my 5th tongue. I speak 8 languages. I went to Cheder Ohel Moshe in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, and then transferred to Yesiva Rebbe Teitz in Elizabeth, New Jersey. I started getting into trouble and was soon sent live with family in Jerusalem. I asttended Yeshiva Achad Am, a Kook yeshiva. Because I was an "at risk" youth I was soon assigned to an after school program wghich is somewhat similar to Boy Scouts here in America. It also included military training. When I was 15 Israel went to war in Lebanon. I was in constant trouble at school and was talked into going into the army at 16. It was not unheard of then but now you dont even find a whole lot of 17 year olds.I was assigned to NAHAL, in the 50th wich had only been reformed for about 10 months when I hooked up. I was first assigned to a base on Mt. Dor. From there, until I joined the liason I was assigned to various Forward Bases in the Shouf. I was wounded twice, both times by bullet fragments. What else you want to know? Hmmmm.I was matched with a 15 year old girl and we wed , on leave, when I was 17. At 18 I was assigned to the Phalangist Liason [Tigers] due to my Arabic.Hd my first son [now a Golani along with my 2nd] At 19 I reupped and was sent back over the border for Command Sgt. School. Just as I finished the "1st Intifadeh" broke out and I went to Gaza where I was stationed in Rafah. My second son was born [also Golani] after my 1st year there I was temporarily attached to the Engineers [separate NAHAL entity] on a tiny outpost near Piladelphi. Rotated back to Rafah, then Khan Yunis and home at 22. Had my daughter [in Kara Kul] got divorced and spent 14 months exploring SE Asia. Came to NYC because a couple of squadmates had started a moving and storage buisiness here and I needed money. Israel, as usual, had 3 digit inflation.

I came, worked a bit and unfortunately picked up on soemthing I had begun in the Shouf, heroin. Ended up selling, got popped, entered the prison system [State of N.J. and served 34 months on a 4 year seantence, Youth # 104184, adult number # 215975]. Served most of it in Moutainview in Annandale, N.J. I got out after maxing out, went back to Israel post haste. Got a job working on the so called "West Bank" where my Arabic did me well in running an excavating crew consisting msotly of local Arabs.

Ended up messing around again and caught 18 months for selling 4 grams of hashish. Did it, got out and headed to SE Asia again. After a month or so, came back to NYC. Went back to my squadmates company but started shaping up at union construction sites. After about 4 months of daily shaping I go on. Worked a full week, got my book, and here I am.

Since then, I got on methadone, kept my nose clean, worked hard and completed my BS which I began in [Israeli] prison. Even started my Masters but that went nowhere.

I keep myself busy by devoting my time to a couple of causes, one is modern slavery, another is Zionism.

That is about it. So, for all the theorists out there, and people who cannot seem to keep their minds on the threads, hope this satisfies you.

Sad thing is, I have wasted space and time doing this when discourse would have been so much better, and that it won't change a thing. 2 months from now a nother clown will start imagiming things agin, and it will all be for naught.

Sigh...let me add more for Panda: My mother's father was Mendel Ben Eliezer, and used the pen name "Max Akerman." He ledft Moldova when my miom was very little and went to Argentina. When my mom came West, they reunited. He was a communist union organiser and when he came to America, wrote for what is now called "Jewish Daily Forward." At the time he began writing, it was all Yiddish and communist. He was instrumental in the furriers union here in the city. He also published at least 3 books. then there was one of his brothers who was a little softer, only espousing socialism and a huge proponent of Esperanto. Do I need to go on? What Jew with at least some roots in europe does NOT have anarchists, communists, or socialists in their family tree? All this conspiracy nonsense is old already.I suggest you get a life , soon.

[Spelling as usual]

Of course, it could all be a bluff. What's the chance of any one of us sending you (rach) a letter to prove your existence? I'm not a gambling man but I reckon the odds are around 1,000,000 to 1.

But then, if you father was a such an obvious lefty, what the fuck happened to you? Some sort of Damascene conversion? If that is so, how come you know so little about socialism?

Nino, get a life. Furthermore, get some glasses, my dad was about as left as Bush. It was my maternal grandfather and his brother, as well as assorted cousins, etc. Not only am I like every person with Ashkenaz blood in having a tree of lefties, but my mom's family came from the Soviet Union. I probably know more about socialism than you, not that it means much to me.

Why would I need glasses? I wear them already but why would I need glasses? I can see through your lies as it is. You know nothing about left wing politics - as your posts on Urban have told us. Your constant attempts to justify who you are have become risible in the extreme. Your last comment is even more so because it is clear that you know nothing about socialism (and are using this as a diversion).
