Crikey....Coca Cola are wankers.....Who would have thought it......That Mark Thomas what a geezer.....Groundbreaking stuff or wot..........

Well I never thought they were angels and doing nothing about threats to their workforce was no surprise.

However the draining of farmer's water supplies, child labour plus deliberately poluting rivers and lying about it did.

I thought the stuff with the brain scan and the neural marketing was interesting.

Much of the rest of it was a bit 'Multinational Corporation in Blatant Profiteering Shocker'.

Not really. Mark Thomas is making a documentary about Coke, he goes into a MRI scanner. Scanner confirms that the idea of 'Coke' produces more reactions in his brain than 'Pepsi'.

Wonder if we'll be seeing much Coke advertising on C4 in the coming weeks?

It was more than simple demonstration of media button-pushing, though.

They were discussing how people could only 'taste' the difference in the product when it was associated with the difference in packaging, image, things with certain cultural resonance etc.

As someone who always demands Coke and vehemently prefers the taste to that of Pepsi it got me questioning myself.

Yeah, good point. As coke is obviously the real thing. I'm loving it (etc). I've also wondered if Tony the tiger (of Frosties fame) is saying 'Grrreat' or 'GoEAT'. If you are spending 2bn on advertising then you would be stupid not to look into brain scanning technologies to try to see exactly make the most of your money

On the taste test I always assumed that there was a difference in taste between the two and that Pepsi had more sugar in it.

The first time I saw Ibuleve gel advertised I thought it was a spoof.

Especially the way they keep saying 'I believe' . . .

Yeah, I figured Pepsi had a little less orange juice and little more sugar.

anyone just watch that hatchet job on Chavez ob BBC2, Disgusting.

My local Venezuela Solidarity group have released this:

-----------

I am writing regarding the BBC Programme "The Trillion Dollar Revolutionary" which was aired on Monday 19th November.

If you watched the show, please complain to the BBC about the seriously unbalanced nature of the programme. To complain to the BBC, you can either call 08700 100 222 or e-mail via the web page at http://www.bbc.co.uk/complaints/

Examples of how the content of the programme was deeply inaccurate include:

*The claim that Hugo Chavez is a dictator, made by Boris Johnson, was unchallenged, despite he and his coalition of supporters winning eleven elections since 1998.

*The mututally beneficial London-Venezuela agreement was caricatured, with no explanation given of the benefits it will give to Venezuela.

*The claim that Venezuela is the "second most corrupt" country in the world was repeated with no substantial evidence to back this up.

*Repeating the argument that the Chavez government's help to the poor is not too impressive, despite the World Bank, Joseph Stiglitz and many others recognising Venezuela's achievements in reducing poverty in recent years. Indeed, the ECLAC 2007 report indicates that poverty declined by 18.4% between 2002 and 2006; and that the levels of indigence also declined by about 13% in the same period (see http://www.eclac.org/publicacione s/xml/9/30309/ PSI2007_Sintesis _Lanzamiento. pdf).
