Mark Lamarr's Reggae Show..

Listening to the Ken Boothe show now. Absolutely fantastic :)

Loved it, one of the best shows on radio atm imo. Add to that the fact that he was hosting Jonathon Ross' show this morning and called him Tarby on numerous occasions and I must say I quite like the fella.

Dub, or anyone else - is Brinsley Forde's Lively Up Yourself show any good?

i don't really bother with it, to be honest. it's a bit 'holiday reggae' for me in places, and when it's not, it's a bit obvious.

Anyone who doesn't like Lamarr but listens to the show could - I like reggae and dislike Lamarr in equal measure.

no they couldn't, think about it. i don't know what aspect of Lamarr's personality you don't like, how prevalent that aspect of his personality is therefore on the show, whether or not you like reggae enough to overcome that aspect, whether he plays the kind of reggae you like etc etc etc.

the important bit i reckon.

i just listened to a bit of Brinsley Forde's show, i see what you mean. i lasted 4 tracks. he comes over as a bit dull too.

I'm asking for others personal opinions. We live in that kind of world.

i know, and i'm saying that it's my sincere believe that nobody else could answer that question.

an example: i can't fucking STAND Jim Carrey. he was in a movie ages ago that people reckoned i'd like enough to enjoy despite his loathsome presence.
i didn't, i hated it because of him.

THEN the same thing happened with Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, people said i'd like it anyway. but this tim i loved it, despite his presence. i doubt anybody but me could put my finger on why he still fucked up the first film but not the second.

simple really - only you have your taste. hey, why not LISTEN to it ? :)

The world is awash with opinions - which others take note of or ignore.

I shall take a listen of it though.

you seem convinced that i'm the spectrum somewhere between being unhelpful or abrasive, but i think i'm just stating, for good reason IMO, that nobody but you can answer your question.

I hate Lamaar on Don't forget the Buzzcocks but he seems much lighter on his music shows. Less schoolyard bully with big mates who laugh at his every wittering... more genuinely enthusiastic music afficiado. He certainly leaves his ego at the door with guests like Ken Boothe.

just catching up with this week's show.

Barrington Levy's guesting next week! :)

(he must be as ancient as me.....)

bollock off dubversion - he's got to be 'round about my age :D

i'm still at work, but it should be there. it's case sensitive, so try it both ways.

he spent quite a bit of time in England in the late 70s - early 80s. i saw him at some big sound clash (can't remember who).

he sang live.

i nearly came.
