Everyone will have their own favourites. I'd recommend Slates Ep, Hex Induction Hour & Perverted by Language for early stuff. For later work with a more electronic side, you could try the Peel Session from 1999 or the compilation 'Past Gone Mad'. And if you're after proper electronica, there's always Von Sudenfed, MES with Mouse on Mars.

Yeah man. Little bursts that prompt you to move the needle back again & again.

I love this right now for the self-assuredness.

And this for the ambition & the atmosphere. And the 'stop those lights flashing or i'll come up there & break your fuckin neck'.

They wheeled him out for a tribute on the death of John Peel. (5.09 in if you don't want the intro) - some nice gurning and reticent support !

This was the first Fall record I bought, as a student indie DJ I played it in just about every set, on my own I still can't manage to play it only once at a time.

    Y'not gettin ahead now :(

Got away with attaching a Fall tune to an all staff email today (with a R.I.P Mark E' Smith message included in the txt) - that chance won't come often....

I've had the day off today, and genuinely been doing some paintwork so had them on all day - realised the fall never (apart from covers) used the normal sort of pop/rock dynamics. Never had stuff drop out, never left one thing playing, never did the loud/quiet really.

    Oh yeah, wake sounded good.

    Love this.

Am a bit late to the Fall. What else should I listen to?

Well if you like that you could start off with This Nation's Saving Grace, which is the album it's from

If you liked that i would basically go with the album that came from which is This Nations Saving Grace. No Bulbs earlier was from all sorts of releases. These things were both mid-80s near pop for them. Both the later and earlier stuff is harder. They are both great, but beware, the first fall you encounter will be the genuine fall for you - there are many other falls to engage with. I like the well-spooky spectre vs rector one.

People on a thread a couple of years ago listed their favourite Fall albums. Here's mine: The Fall

But there's scores. And everyone has different favourites. Just dive in. Maybe try 50 000 Fall Fans for an overview. 50,000 Fall Fans Can't Be Wrong - Wikipedia

Thanks danny. Obviously I know some of the singles but don't know any albums. Will explore.

This is the best gig I saw them do. I used to have this on a dodgy C-90 that I paid a fiver for. Glad it's made it's way on to Youtube:

    Smile
Lie Dream Of A Casino Soul
    C.R.E.E.P.
    Elves
    Hexen Definitive - Strife Knot
    2 x 4
    No Bulbs
    Joker Hysterical Face
    Lay Of The Land
    Garden
    Kicker Conspiracy
    O! Brother
    Totally Wired

Always a bit of a gamble sending a cheque for five quid to some random address off a flyer to get something recorded in the audience. This one's hissy but I've heard worse. Bloke going 'Need any matches?' in the middle of 'Casino Soul' always used to make me smile. My mate Joe had a legendary Damned bootleg where the bloke recording it goes for a piss in the middle of the gig.

I think that was the first Fall song I ever heard. Along with a whole load of random Peel stuff I taped that and Cruisers Creek off a John Peel session in about 1985. I loved that C90

I was actually quite disappointed when I discovered my mistake. But having just heard the track I Am Damo Suzuki I have now found at least something of the sound I was looking for :)

Mollusc in Tirol sounds like at least couple of tracks playing at the same time, with a major construction site in full swing in the near background.
