Just seen it on twitter
Fall news (@fallnews) on Twitter
Someone posted this on my FB. Seems to be true, unless Twitter has been hijacked.
The unique, irreplaceable, curmudgeon genius that is Mark E. Smith has died. Perhaps not so much of a shock, given recent reports, but still a sad day.
Seems to be true. What an absolute disaster for the planet.
Oh shit x 1000.
I saw them for the first time last year. Glad I did.
I don't want to live in this world anymore
He machen state. Underneath.
I was 14 when I saw the fall - in 1983 in Berlin. Loved them. He was a fucking genius.
Can't believe it. Shocked.
I can believe itof course. I was at the Bristol gig that never happened a month or two back cos he was so ill.
Just in shock.
I’m waitIn for more official news from, y’know, Wikipedia or something. Glimmer of hope.
Which says he died on 14 jan
I love everything about this. Only just discovered this clip last month.
RIP Mr. Smith.
Struggling to take this in. Haven't kept up with the band and haven't really listened to them properly for a long time. But they meant absolutely everything to me during my teen years.
My brother will be gutted... he was a big Fall fan. Mark E Smith, rest in a general state of grumbliness.
Already a thread
Weird. Mine says 24th.
RIP Mr Smith.
Two threads in music
Maybe corrected. Requiescat in pace mes
I posted mine first
Very sad news.Weirdly enough late last night I played about an hour of Fall songs and video clips of a documentary on him and a fairly recent interview on Channel 4.
Only saw Fall the once, as a student around the time of Middle Class Revolt. Smith singing 'Hey Student' to a nearly all student crowd with proper disdain
Well, until he just went and sat down for a while on the stage and let the rest of the band carry on
Cheers Mark, you proper one-of-a-kind
Buggery fuck, RIP.
Well never see his like again.
First time for me was on one of Tony Wilson’s Granada shows, “Psychomafia”
Then I properly heard “Live at the Witch Trials” perhaps the best ever album title ....
RIP. Still haven’t listened to all of your albums but at least the amount I have to discover are now finite.
RIP you unique mad bastard.
