Manhunt 2 Banned!!

I think there are limits and lines which it can be reasonably argued shouldn't be crossed. This game just sounds liek a load of deliberately exploitative gratuitous and frankly morbid titilation. I'm no prude, but I don't get why anyone would want to play this. At least GTA has a plot, humour and some form of cause and effect (ie there are consequences to behaving like a twat in the game).

of course games affect people. All media does. If it didn't you wouldn't read/play/watch it. The difference is whether the consumer can handle it or whether they are a bunch of silly little pikeys who like playing 'dat game where you is stabbing up cops innit'.

You clearly have evidence to show that games make people go out and kill people?

no in short, however i have a theory why too...

Rockstar wanted it banned becuase the game wasn't compleated it hadn't even had a release date given let alone anything else they knew it was going to be ove budget or a poor game and after the only fair to middling success of bully (cainus cainum edit in the uk due to the censors again) they say a way to make a cut from their line up which resolved that they wouldn't need to break contract or release the game by putting it out there....

In effect i don't beleive the game ever existed and i suspect that the delay of GTA IV will now incorperate those sections of the game which previously were in manhunt 2 which the censors saw a title they will have Sony and M$'s full clout behind as it's going to be x plaform...

It's coming out, it's been lowered to an M rating in the US.

Still banned over here.

Thou the uncut version eill be released in Holland the last I read?

I got told to fuck off by last time I expressed an opinion on this, but at risk of another barrage of abuse, could it be because the horror films last at most a couple of hours, whereas people will sit and immerse themselves in these games for days?

When are they going to ban this site then? :D

p.s.

fuck off! :p

UK, October 8, 2007 - Rockstar's attempts to publish its Manhunt 2 in the UK, following the British Board of Film Classification's decision to deny the game a rating, has hit another brick wall. The BBFC has now rejected a revised edition of the game, saying that, although it recognises that changes have been made, they don't go far enough to address concerns raised with the original submission.

David Cooke, director of the BBFC said: "The impact of the revisions on the bleakness and callousness of tone, or the essential nature of the gameplay, is clearly insufficient. There has been a reduction in the visual detail in some of the 'execution kills', but in others they retain their original visceral and casually sadistic nature.

"We did make suggestions for further changes to the game, but the distributor has chosen not to make them, and as a result we have rejected the game on both platforms. The decision on whether or not an appeal goes ahead lies with the distributor."

In June the BBFC refused to give Manhunt 2 a classification, saying its "unremitting bleakness and callousness of tone [...] constantly encourages visceral killing with exceptionally little alleviation or distancing".

Rockstar's appeal against the decision was suspended while the developer offered up a revised version of the game. We contacted Rockstar for comment and a statement is set for release shortly.

Over in the US, the revised version of Manhunt 2 was finally granted an 'M' rating by the ESRB, following the original submission's kiss-of-death 'AO' classification. The updated game will now hit US stores on October 29

Maybe I'm showing my age but isn't the game a bit ill?

Personally I'm waiting for virtual rapist 3 and serial killer online.

why would you want to?

why not...at least its a bit different.

"A new feature to executions in the game are the environmental kills, which can be used to eliminate an opponent. For example, you can push an enemy face-first into a live fuse box, use telephone cords to strangle an enemy "

I finished the first game & that was fuckin excellent.....in how many other games could you kill someone with a plastic bag
