Manchester City FC 2008-09

Singing about Munich in the background was a classy touch.

So if Berbatov doesn't sign for City won't the excited City fans feel a bit silly?

Nah, it's just about making Fergie fume into his pint. Spuds have accepted City's bid but not yours (yet). Classic. :D

I'd like to think United wouldn't be so stupid as to offer more, but I fear they might be.

they probably won't have too, Berbatov isn't going to move backwards to Shitty and so Levy has a choice, sell to United or let him rot til the next transfer window knocking millions off his value.

Poor poor Robinho treated like a free promotional CD tacked onto a Ronaldo transfer, then has his hopes up of being alowed to join Chelsea only to end up being forced to Shitty, unless they've just told him he's moving to Manchester "y'know Robinho, Mark Hughes, Andy Cole, Denis Law".

Oooo some bitterness there eh?

What is there to be bitter about, I'm moved only human empathy for poor Robinho's plight, he's been treated like shit this summer, the fact he's signing for Man City would suggest his self esteem has been shot to pieces.

Where's your goth then?

Settle down. An FA tribunal awaits the purple Jock.

So is this Hughes's choice or the new owners doing an Abramovich and buying themselves some toys?

Which manager would refuse to have him?

City seemed to have a shortlist of him, Berbatov, Villa and Gomez. Most managers in the world would want any of them if they had £30+ mill free.

We needed a forward so might as well have one of the best in the world.

But...Hughes just on SSN now saying he hasn't even spoken to him yet.

Though Abu Dhabi have obviously had a hand in the transfers of Kompany, SWP and Zabaleta - all good solid buys at a decent prices and seem to be players in the Hughes mould.

If that argument is incoherent, it's because I can't believe what happened today.

"We have sold Robinho for reasons of a human nature and for sporting reasons," Calderon told Spanish television station Veo.
"The fact that he has accepted an offer from Manchester City says that he is not going for sporting reasons."
:D :D :D :D

Calderon is an utter wanker though I wouldn't believe a thing he says. If Robinho was in it for the money he could have carried on warming the bench at Real every other game. Real just don't like to admit that they're no longer the draw they once were.

The new guy in charge reckons a world class player costs £30m on average. He wants to but 18 of them and says finding half a billion to do it is no problem.

Am I happy with that?

Not really. We can only lose as with that amount of dosh we'd be expected to win everything including a summer tournament on Mars.

I was actually really enjoying the development of the current City team with so many young players coming through the ranks. It needed a good bit of tweaking for sure but this is excuse the phrase a whole different ball game.

There was a bitter twist in that statement wasn't there?

quite nuts that Abu Dhabi thing.

Getting passed around the billionaires :(

might be a good mechanism for Thaksin to get some money in Europe that isn't seized by the Thai govt.

that was my first thought, he's laundered the money basically hasn't he?

Real Madrid haven't faded at all. They dithered around on his contract because they thought Ronaldo was coming and that pissed Robinho off. Maybe he's not too keen on one or two people there as well . . .

that's the question that always comes to my mind when this kind of thing happens. Yeah, you might win the league in the next couple of years but you've only done it cos some mega-rich bloke has come in and bought brazil for you. If you play nice football then I suppose that's good but it's all a bit.... soulless. On the other hand, every other fucker is doing it so why not? Football ain't what it used to be....

Yeah that about sums it up I suppose. Times change.
