It'll be an extra kick in the balls if he didn't bother backing Pompey at 11's.

Was that the worst ever defending for the goal?
Rooney is a fucking numbskull. His defending was utterly comical. 2 v 2 - what does Rooney do, go to the player where his team mate is going, leaving the other attacker free.
Brilliant - genius - etc.
Good to see Slur Alex's gin soaked mind spluttering utter shite after the match - the football nation laughs at the twat again.

oh well just the champions league and the prem to fight for this season now!!
more then what lverpool can fight for

Rooney isn't a defender shocker!
Still atleast we went out to Premier League opposition.

That's funny, I saw all of our players managing to defend competently.
You can tell because your team didn't get any goals today.

I rate Distin and Campbell highly.

Johnson was outstanding as well. Herman the Ice Giant did well too.
But Diarra made a case for being one of the best midfielders![]()
Big Sylvain for THAT stop![]()
Not this wee plucky fella then?

Made it clear from the off that they could simply bodycheck United players with no repurcussion.

Nothing wrong with a good old shoulder to shoulder challenge though is there? Gerrard had one against him yesterday in the box. He didn't go flying as far as Ronaldo did but he was still muscled off the ball by the defender's shoulder. No pen awarded.
Refs give what they see and it applies to both teams. Another ref could have given Rooney a straight red for his lunge yesterday, especially in this current climate. Nani went through the back of a Portsmouth player in the first half and the ref didn't even give a free kick. Another ref would have given Nani a yellow.
The bottom line yesterday is that Portsmouth defended very well and United's profligacy in front of goal was highly amusing.
