Man Utd show "spirit of 99"

What kind of bumbling incompetent is Ferguson then? How much has he spent on midfielders over the years - Veron for £30 million, Carrick for £18m, a host of new Keanes (Kleberson, Djemba-Djemba, Miller etc). We could talk about goalkeepers too - tens of millions spent and the best Utd have is a superannuated bloke pilfered from Fulham.

And people moan about Mourinho spending too much money...

Carrick was never bought with that role in mind you silly prick, why do you think Fergies been flirting it up with that tart Hargreaves for over a year? Still if we pay 20 million for him i'll not be happy (of course i'd be delighted if he came and proved me wrong!). And ofcourse we've not been sucessful in filling Keanes boots, their some fucking size boots for a start, though it has helped that Fergie has bought some eejits who need velcro straps on theirs.

And as much as Fergie has made some howlers I don't think it can be compared to the not so merry band of mercenaries Mourinho has assembled, afterall youse still haven't managed a double nevermind the European Cup.

Tarranau, out of interest, who do you support? You seem to have the requisite levels of dislike for LFC/United/Chelsea but reason enough to see the good in each also.

Joey Barton has the calibre for United in my opinion.

I think Fergie would kill him. I was excited about the prospect of Gattuso in the summer but turnt out he wasn't going anywhere. :(

He reminds me of Roy Keane though. Plus Fergie is really not going to be around that much longer.

yes but Fergies the only one I could imagine having a chance of handling him. Still I reckon Barton would have went out into the San Siro and not given Gattuso and co and ounce of respect.

It'll be fascinating to see what will happen to United when Fergie does eventually retire. I think you'll be rubbish.

For some reason i cant see joey barton being accepted at old trafford.

Oh and whats wrong with van der sar hes been one of the best keepers in the world for ages! And bout third best in prem(behind cech and given).

Man utd were utter utter shite last night and yet i didn't want to slit my wrists for something interesting to do unlike the liverpool chelsea game.

seriously though he's more than just a manager, he's an institution, he has shaped a whole ethos at the club, a whole attitude to playing and the style of play.

I don't want to see some boring continental football technical advisor with a hands off approach to the players.

You'll end up with Roy Keane at the rate he's going.

That I could deal with!:D

seriously scary to think of Fergie leaving, he's been there the whole time I've supported them, 20 fucking years ffs!

I used to be a Wimbledon fan - largely because and I played at school in the same team as two Dons and they're very local. Understandably I'm a bit torn for a side now - I'll generally support the underdog or London side in games now. I can't bring myself to bring myself to really support Chelsea (nasty old associations for a Brixton boy) nor Arsenal (North London) and I've always hated Tottenham.

So I'm a bit neutral really, albeit with a healthy distaste for glory hunting armchair fans who latch upon a club simply because they were high profile when they were young. They should grow out of it and support their local teams - christ, they're not still not devoted to the same bands or authors they loved when they were 9 are they. Why the fuck are all those Surrey gobshites supporting Utd or Liverpool - half the plummy fuckers haven't even visited their 'home' grounds.

  ;)

Fair enough...Crystal Palace sounds like the team for you but I don't think I could bring myself to like them.

Nah, Fergie's spent millions over the years on mediocre players. He should ask Arsene about where to buy a midfielder or two - a few mistakes would have been alright, but he's consistently identified bum players.

Fairplay to Mourinho, he's spent the money but he's had the immecdiate results under far more pressure than Fergie. How many years did Fergie have to build success, how much leeway? And Mourinho's never wasted money in the Veron, Taibi or Carrick league.

Utd looked like a less-committed version of Watford last night. The passing was Irish league quality

It was bad enough having to go to Selhurst Park when we ground-shared!

:D

I don't think Carrick was a waste of money (just overpriced like every other player with a UK passport!), he's a good player and one I can see really maturing into the team, we just need to have him beside a monster who can give him protection.

but what about their loveable chairman?:D

He's apparently alright in real life. My dad worked as a waiter at a certain leading hotel for years and Jordan's turned over a corporate box to the waiters and maids on a good few occasions, paying for all their drinks and sending my old man home entirely sozzled.

He may speak like a cunt in the papers, but he's apparently generous and down to earth in real life.

He could have built a time machine went back and stopped the Holocaust and he'd still only be half way towards making up for his hair and smug face.

What the hell does he need protection for? Does he need help getting around the pitch any more slowly, or someone to show him to mis-direct even more of his passes. Or someone to hold his cloak of invisibility on the big occasions?

He's a one-paced liability who can't tackle and chokes in big games.

Well, that's a turn up for the books. I had him down as a complete plank.

Even though they fluked their Champions League win, The side of 99 were far superior than this lot and they had depth too. Only one, maybe two, players of the current team would get into that side.

Agreed, especially strength down the core of the team, which Milan ripped apart with embarrassing ease yesterday. This team has more flair in attack, that's about it.
