Man (or woman) with a van Central/North London ?

Reno

The In Kraut
I'm moving from Central London to Swiss Cottage/Kilburn on the 23 March and was wondering if anybody can recommend someone with a van to move my stuff (contents of a one bedroom flat).

I rate Taxi Vans

Taxi Vans

I've been quoted a v reasonable price to shift the contents of my room plus some kitchen stuff, a large telly, large microwave and computer for £45. For an extra £20 they offered to carry it up to my new 2nd floor flat.

I report back on how they were on Monday, if you want?

Please do.

Sounds the same amount of stuff that I'll be moving and I'm moving to the 2nd floor as well. Price seems very reasonable.

Good luck with the move. :)

AND they didn't ask for a deposit or anything, which is handy when you are moving and paying out cash money left right and centre.

Big Up the taxivans crew *ahem*

I moved with them on Friday, and I had WAY more stuff including a few pieces of furniture, than I'd been quoted for and was being panicky and stressy and unprepared and generally rubbish.

Taxi Vans were great. They turned up with a huge van, complete with tail lift and a man what packed all my stuff in nice and securely.

Totally recommend them and no error!

Thanks pootle, I'll give them a call today.

The last time I moved I got one of those companies who are supposed to do everything for you, packing etc. When the day arrived four Russians with no knowledge of English arrived, taking absolutely no care with anything and it turned into one of the most stressful days of my life. When I refused to pay the full amount of £600 they threatened to get violent.

I had dream the night before that sounds like your experience! When I started shifting stuff from around the house into one room I realised just how much stuff I had, and was all rubbish and girly and stuff, but the bloke who turned up was SO nice to me.

I didn't have any breakages, and all the stuff was packed into the van really well - better than I'd have done if I'd gone for a van rental at least.

The bloke who turned up was eastern european though, but he spoke very good english!!

I ended up using Taxi Vans for my move and they were excellent and incredibly cheap, so I gave them a big tip.

Thanks a lot for recommending them. :)
