It seems the majority of people do like to dance, so that's cool, and I have learnt that a) I phrased my OP poorly, or b) it reflected my actual understanding (you choose!!! ) so I've grown up a bit and c) the one person who doesn't dance on the thread is my mate, and that's always gonna be cool.

Yep the biggest music lovers I know have no impulse to sake their thang and then there are those that love to dance no matter what the music is but aren't much cop at it but don't give two hoots about it and just love to throw shapes all over the shop

I love to dance, I listen to a load of dance music at home without moving around - but my basic attraction to it comes from social dancing with others, drugs or not. I'm awful at talking in clubs, so that's all I want to do there really. I don't care how shit other dancers are, but for most people all it takes to dance well is to get into the music.
