An unexpected side journey for me. Air asia, 53 return from Bangkok. Couldn't not go.
Slightly cheeky, but because this place was so good and not in any guide book, I'll mention it on here incase anyone does a search.
Tropicana Lodge in Kota Kinabalu. Its backpacker dorm only, but unless you want to spend 10-20 quid a night on the Island, your gonna have to go into a dorm. Best place I've stayed since I left and the place to base your travels in Borneo.
Borneo isn't really geared up for tourists and its more expensive than you'd imagine, some of the bars were 4 quid a pint, so I had to leave. Spend 400 quid in 2 weeks and I didn't really do that much.
Will go back and do some stuff there another time, when I'm a bit richer.
Sabah Tea, best tea I've ever drunk, so much so that I actually bought some and sent it home, very unlike me that.
