Making towels soft and fluffy

Load of white washing going in now . . . not towels I hasten to add . . . but a 1/4 cup of white vinegar is going in as well.

Will report back in a couple of hours.

Are you sensitive to all fabric conditioners Minnie? Have you tried the Ecover type ones?

Not sure, unfortunately I don't really take much notice what I'm chucking in re: brandwise so not sure which ones don't make me sneeze :o

Haven't tried Ecover though. Might be worth a try, although I think I'm going to go down the vinegar route first - it's cheaper!

Whites have just come out of the tumble dryer.

Now, as Mrs HV said when quizzed about how white they were. "Well, it's got a lot of other stuff in there as well, like laundry fluid (Ecover) and Bleach"

But the shirt in question:-

a) Didn't smell of a fish and chip shop

and

b) Did, sorta feel soft ish, but then it's a shirt and not a fluffy towel

So, Urban try for yourself.

White vinegar . . . the new conditioner

*puts white vinegar on shopping list*

I actually do prefer them a bit rough rather than fluffy though, it's like having a bit of a built in exfoliate as you get dry.

I also like those waffle/seersucker towels

Cheaper than conditioner probably ;)

*waits to see if there's a sudden shortage of white vinegar due to explosion in people using it in laundry* :D

If you use fabric conditioner you reduce the absorbency of the towels. Or so I hear.

(has anyone already said this? I'm too lazy to read the thread :o)

Fabric conditioners are shite on towels - like Pantene, they leave a little layer of goo on the towel, making them less effective at drying you off.

AAAAANND VP is there...great minds and all that...

We don't use fabric conditioner, we hang the towels on the line then finish them off in the tumble dryer with a sheet thing to soften them.
