Making Barcelona Sticky

Sunray said:
You miss my point entirely. Its a travel forum, Barcalona is one place, its existance, like everywhere else in the world does not justify a sticky IMO.
Well, it would make sense if there was an endless repetition of threads asking the same question appearing here.

I'd have no problem if there were six or seven sticky threads offering info and tips on popular destinations here as I feel users would find that useful.

Not sure why everyone's getting so uppity on this matter. Could peeps chill a tad please?

And you also miss my point, neither did I say it was better or worse. Its been discussed as much as Barcalona yet I see no sticky. Neither did I want one you thick cunt.

I`ve got no problem with your opinion , I did have a problem with the way you put it across.

You win the insult competition though, that was inspired.

so why the snide 'adventure' comments, or are you backing out on those now?

and my sole reason for suggesting one was a very large concentration of Barca threads at one time, far more so than any other area i could think of.

I'm taking the piss. Its a western country where there is no hardship getting there, its culturally similar and all that sticky is going to tell people is which bar/restaurant/club is good or what festival/exhibitions are on. Tell me what else there is to say about Barcalona that a simple google will not get instantly and be probably more up to date than a badly update thread?

Its seems stupid for a travel forum to have any focus on a single place, esp one that small.

How about a new section for super-hardy travellers entitled, "Cheap holiday in other people's misery?

if people are going to barca for just a few days, what's so fucking wrong about asking for personal (as opposed to unreliable internet) advice on what to cram into a long weekend?

you're coming out of this looking like a fucking snob.;

"yah, i went and lived on a beach for 4 quid a week, it was great".

i'm sure the local economy really appreciated that. :)

I disagree.

Barcelona has it all touristy wise and is steeped in political history that many people here find rousing. I know I felt a tingle down my spine when I saw red and black flags drapped up and down the street.

yeh, but unless you rowed there yourself it's just not authentic.

Nothing, but why does that need a sticky? Is it not better for a new post in what is one of Urbans slowest moving forums. Its likely to be met with up to date information from people that might have just come back. I really do not see the need for a sticky. Its not as if the forum was being jammed to the rafters with Barcalona threads.

Still, I see you've got your way anyway.

Hang on, I can think of loads of places, on that basis, that deserve a whole forum. But the travel forum is a fine enough place for them all and its fine as it is.

Then you won't mind listing a few of them :)

Fuck, thats a request an a half. No explanations, too much typing.

Varanasi
Delhi
Bangkok
Koh Mak
Koh Phangan
Chang Mai
Maduri
Byron Bay
Fraser Island
Siam Reap and Angkor Wat
Phenom Pen
Kota Kinablu, Sabah
Sikkim

There are many many others, but these are all amazing places that I could drone on about for ages.

What do these places have to do with anarchism?

I read that and didn't pay much interest to the rest. Too annoyed.

i suggested one, simple as that. didn't need you to wade in sneering at people's 'unadventurous', 'ungruelling' holiday choices. and as i've repeatedly said, there were - when i originally posted this thread - LOTS of Barcelona threads. it wasn't even my idea originally, for what it's worth.

do you have anyone to help you get all the toys back in your pram? :D

My objection to stickies is because they are not updated, they get tired and they make it look like the boards have special attachment to one place? That one is full of links to threads, give it time, unless you paste or get those threads archived they will get deleted. Handy reference that will be.

FridgeMagnets geek forum is exploding with stickies, many of which are so old its like they have become part of the board. I don't even see them any more.

care to expand on your pithy contribution?

It was 3 months or so ago and given we have a little bit of history I was acting the wanker trying to get a reaction from you.

Life is too short and for what it's worth I apologise.

Last time I was there (Oct 04) it still had plenty of character, politics, squats etc.

Perhaps, but for some people it quite clearly has made the mistake of becoming far too popular!

My mate met a twat with that kind of outlook when he was in Turkey. The twat in question actually went to my school and gave the impression that he was in fact a friend of mine (they worked out that they both knew me). Anyway the twat constantly went on about how Turkey wasn't alternative enough, off the beaten track enough, how Beirut was the place to be now, etc.
