if only, sadly it's a programming web app job there's no one else in the organisation who can do it... hence the retention....

Time to revive this pertinent question, I think. We need to seriously address this one.

Well, I guess the mock-left may not really know.

Personally I advocate forcing people to strike, possibly by kidnapping their children and pets and threatening great harm.

To which I'd only add whacking them all behind the knees with a pick-axe handle (the non-strikers, that is, not the kidnapped children).

Or kicking them out the union. Or perhaps coming to a secret pact with the bosses that only allows people on the picket line to achieve resolution from the strike.

No pact with the bosses, just force the unions to support legislation that means only union members receive the benefits of union membership.

And loses it if they're seen pissarsing into work on strike days. If that means losing whole areas of membership, so be it. What's the point in having them as members anyway?
