Mad Men - BBC Four

Newsnight Review loved Mad Men, saying it was the best telly ever produced.

Hmmmm, get thee to the wire

But still, I've been waiting for this for ages too and then I go and spoil it all by doing something stupid like missing it

How dare anybody disagree with that undisputable fact of life.

I love the Wire unconditionally but jesus you can't move for people mentioning it in TV threads. Yes it's brilliant but it doesn't mean other things can't be as well! Man cannot live by bread alone ;) (not to mention I still think Homicide was just as good)

I think Mad Men will take a time to bed in but I can see plenty of nice story arcs.

I think some sort of collective hysteria has taken over urban in regards to The Wire.

I like the show, but I don't feel the need to start a new thread every time a cast member of the show farts or reprimant anybody who has a favourite show other than The Wire.

 But Omar's so.. so.. amazing!

(not really, I've never seen it, I just want to fit in.)

That repeat was way too late - I'm goig to try to learn how to work the dvd recorder before the one tomorrow night

Managed to catch episode 2 last night - playing a bit of catch up but I think I'll cope.

I enoyed it very much. It's such a relief to fnd something decent to watch.

The costumes in this are amazing... I love clothing from that era.
Anyway - I have to watch the next episode on iPlayer this evening after work... I tend to forget to go downstairs and watch it on the telly!

The whole thing would drive a health and safety inspector to distraction wouldn't it?

Smoking in bed, smoking while pregnant, driving without seat belts (including children), kids playing with massive plastic bags over their heads... :D

Really enjoyed it :)

Anyone still watching this?

Pete Campbell is a great character. Smarmy, underhand, sly and yet for some reason I still like him. :hmm:

apols for the thread necromancy, but i've just finished watching season 3. Don't worry, no spoilers, but by crikey it's fantastic.

Season 4 more eagerly anticipated than seasons 2 and three... and that's saying something.

plus, everyone is so groomed... i've taken to wearing proper makeup at work, even foundation and lipstick. if i wasn't still fucked in the ankles i'd be sporting a heeled pump as well.

I went and bought a skinny-lapel charcoal suit. :o

Never get to wear it though, being in the casually-dressed meeja and all. :(

The end of S3 was magnificent. Absolutely love this show.

Did you pick up on all the little JFK assasination nods & winks throughout S3 leading up to the assasination episode?
Joan's smashing the vase on the back of her husband's head.
The Ad pitch with 4 of them pretending to sit in convertible.
Pete sitting in his office, by the window with the rifle.
The car Betty inherits from her dad & then starts driving instead of her normal car, is a black Lincoln Continental - same as the car JFK was in.

Any others?...
