Which just goes to show that there are already so many cats around, be they feral cats, shelter cats, working animals or domestic pets, that the business of breeding more just for the purpose of showing them is unethical and, purely in my personal opinion, should be outlawed, at least while the shelters are already full to bursting with thousands of perfectly good mogs in desperate need of a loving and decent home.
I'm an ardent animal lover and I love cats in particular. But one area in which I'm in agreement with people who dislike cats, and there are many of them who all have their reasons (and whether or not I consider those reasons are sound is another matter) for saying that there are already far too many cats as it is.
I certainly wouldn't go so far as to suggest a cull (as I believe some wildlife types have suggested in the past) but I'd certainly be more than happy to see the end of the business of breeding cats, compulsory neutering after a cat's first litter of kittens, and an end to the idea that cats are some pretty little trophy to be flashed about like some glittery bit of jewellery or other instead of the living and sentient animals that they really are.
