Right after yours, I imagine :D
i have nothing to apologise for i didn't attack any poster merely pointed out that we've heard it all before.

The editor however deicded to lower the tone with name calling ... when he realised his prozaic tub thumbing had fallen on deaf ears...

I think your iPhone's battery is getting low. The text is coming out all mangled.

ExtraRefined: - Seems you're an exception, then.

My summing up would be:

Windows PC:
- Viruses/safety
- Crashy
- 'Beige box' factor

The real security risks these days are trojans, and XSS, a reflection of the fact that windows is now much more secure against drive by download / remote code execution type attacks. In fact, the security story of the day is related to a flaw in UPnP. UAC and not giving out admin accounts by default in Vista will only improve the situation.

In the unlikely event apple ever get a big market share (currently less for all mac OSs than Vista has gained in less than a year) OS X would start to be targeted by trojans.

Instability isn't really an issue for any modern OS.

The big advantage of windows is, as you say, customisability, and as such you are by no means limited to beige boxes - just to x86 processors. I still think the old style thinkpads are the sexiest machines ever made.

My PC "rig" is looking very unglamorous, running with both sides off and a domestic fan shoved in its side.

And what turned this mighty dual core machine into such an unsightly vision - why it was laid low by the humblest of components - a bastard Asus motherboard fan that requires the entire machine to be disassembled to be replaced (a job that usually involved a swift swap of a £3 fan).

*shakes fan at Mr Asus and his twat designers.

i think that after being told consistantly that making comments on a dyslexics posters spelling and not the content of their posts is unacceptable and more over making the same unfunny laugh at the cripple joke when it doens't get a rise continually is almost as dull as the editors anti mac frothing...

the two of you deserve each other...

now then unteather you racist bigot wing nut why don't you fuck right off with your dsiablled bashing ... son... here's wishing you inopperable bowel cancer and a broken back... lots of love ...

dont' hesitate to die any time soon, we'd all be so greatful....

fucking cock...

Ah, the old 'fight fire with thermonuclear holocaust' variation on the comeback :)

well i have no issue reallyu with the nonsese tooing a froing of mac vs pc other than it's afuooking pointless arguement which gets' dull if you are trying to discuss anything tech wise about like disucssing the nazi party and having one smart alex saying godwins law every time you say nazi ... any sane, rational person would see how that would be increasingly annoying but as i said this fucking tool continues to make unfunny joke about people with disablies and thinks himself oh so hilarious... and that isn't on...

so fuck him, if he continues the debate in that manner then bomb him back to the stone age where he belongs rather than put up with his ocntinued unwaviering prejudice... fuck em...

You say the nicest things, darling.
compared to the inferred belife that being able bodied is some what prefferable to being disablled ... well yes yes i do...

the only way you'll even get close to understanding or having the information permiate your super dense skull would be to actually have inflicted on you some kind of permenat life threatening diblitating disablity....

then you might be able to experince some form of empathy... but not much...

I'm sorry you were offended by my comment. I had no idea you were dyslexic. I just thought you were a rushed and lazy typist.

Now, back to the PC vs. Mac wars.

don't flatter yourself love you don't offend me. However, bigotry of any kind can only be delt with by swift repriseals.

explore your response closer for a second why would you use spelling and not the content as the point of dispute?

are you not capable of debating the point in discussion?

did you need to elevate yourself above others to feel superiour after beign shown to be inaccurate or being ignored with your intial comment?

what motiveates you to attack a person rather than what they've said?

you in particular seem to fall into this trap time in time out and mark yourself out as being a touch, fringe or very black and white. Does this action, method of acting serve you well in other areas?

If not what would you change in order to cause less conflict and more understanding. you can't after all change others anymore than they can change you?

wouldn't the ultimate in lazyness be that which see's and recoginises the problem in inherent in ones own reactions to situations and doesn't seek to alter it. To attack the person not their points?

that's lazy...

I would never use a mac as a personal computer, as far as i'm concerned they are trade only.

You big shower of bastards.

Oh really? You did a very good impression of it.

Thank you for your amateur psychoanalysis but if I need any assistance in that department I'll engage someone on a professional basis.

I do a great impression of indigantion and anger it's a shame that you cannot move beyond the simple compuntion to comment on peoples spelling rather than their POV...

Well, well, well:
So - if we were all living on a tiny island, would we go to war over the correct way to eat an egg? In a sense, Mac v PC is the same futile debate. I use Macs, as I think they are better; others like to eat their eggs different.

Course, that Microsoft is a proven monopolist that has adversely affected development of the tech industry always seems to be forgotten by this debate. I'm not prepared to entrust my data into the hands of corporate criminals, so that's another reason I eat my egg the way I do.

In terms of the dubiousness of business practices I don't see much to distinguish Microsoft and Apple. One's bigger and has more opportunity to be nastier. That's about it.

I'm in the "the web will commoditise the desktop OS" camp anyway.

Yeah! And Apple are for the people! No DRM! No locked-down OSs! No law suits! No industry-first auto-bricking of phones!

There's lots of reasons why one may prefer a Mac to a PC, but claiming superior industry practices is unlikely to be one of them.

*once again for the iParanoid: this is not a criticism of Apple's product, only of the company's practices. Microsoft are wankers too. Palm definitely are for that matter.

awr look at the iSnipe :)

It's ture though these things are a bit like nike vs reebok... not exactly pinicles of good practice either....

also those people bringing up Macs used in their specialised work environment, what a strawman the issue is the wanker home computer market, the sort of tossers who buy a mac for surfing the internet or writing a shitty novel whilst their parents keep them in a Shoreditch apartment.

The fact is a PC can do everything the typical home user needs and more for a much cheaper price and more options, yet every coffee shop in the country has some tosser with an iMac.
