revol68 said:so please explain how you can have a mac with all the non apple components you want and yet still legitimately run OS X?
Dask said:Hate to be the one to break this to you, but pretty much every component inside a mac ISN'T manufactured by Apple.
revol68 said:Yawn as you will but it's a FACT.
People who own Mac's should get little orange computer disability stickers and cash back from some local government agency.
revol68 said:Is someone going to explain how I can put any component I want in a Mac, sourced from anywhere I want and still run OS X?
revol68 said:oh ffs, obviously, but you still have to buy it through them.

Still the irony of a Utd supporter waffling on about overhyped and overpriced isn't lost on me. Careful you don't choke on that prawn sarnie my little munchkin.

Crispy said:Yes. You might find yourself a bit limited on graphics cards (there's still a good choice though), but memory, hard drives, many other PCI devices and USB devices will work just fine.
I have an imac with non-apple RAM in it, and OSX doesn't give a shit. It can boot into windows too, but I haven't done that in months. Games are so much nicer on the telly.
revol68 said:I'm still waiting to be told how I can build my own Mac and legitimately run OS X. Oh wait I can't I have to buy an overpriced piece of shit from Apple, yes?

And why would pay over the odds for crappy Apple shit in the first place so I can gut it and put in PC parts? So I can run an operating system with shit game support? Surely I'd just stick to Linux if I wanted that.
If you want to play games on your computer, go for windows. If you don't want to play games on your computer, there is almost no reason to go for windows. The alternatives are linux or mac. If you like grubbing around under the hood of your computer and don't mind a bit of DIY, go for linux. If you want minimal fuss and a nice-looking object on your desk, go for apple. If there's a specialist bit of software you have to have, then go for the platform which supports that software.revol68 said:Processor, motherboard?

Please see post 153revol68 said:So please explain where do Apple fit in in the world of personal computing?
No.revol68 said:So please explain where do Apple fit in in the world of personal computing?

I still don't see where Apples shitty stuff comes into relevance, it's almost like it's a niche market for retards easily sold on iHype and 'lifestyle' products.
revol68 said:So please explain where do Apple fit in in the world of personal computing?
I mean you can get more stability and less game support from various Linux set ups that will run on a cheap PC.
Where does Apple fit in and why would anyone want to pay it's stupid prices or be restricted by it?
revol68 said:So basically Macs are for people who don't know enough to use Linux or maintain Windows properly. Oh and they get a hard on over Apples of soo leftfield design and lifestyle points.
It isn't just a Mac it's my way of telling the world I'm a fuckwit.
