Macca`s back.

balladeering? - you're ignoring 70% of Macca's output for some reason

well I wasn't reffering to his total output just his to his latest album, the bits of which I have heard have consisted of his soppy bleatings ...

care to expand? are you claiming that - for example - the loathing that wolfie and i share for McCartney is born out of ignorance of musical history on our part? :D
No, that's not what I mean - perhaps I should say a case of lerning musical history.

bertifrew hasn't been about for a bit, has he?

the addled old fart does still post in football as bertifrew. i just think he'd made such a cock out of himself on other forums he kept away.

The above quotes were brought to you as a public service to aid guesswork :p

Returning banned user written all over him, 'newbie' my arse ...

Oh, McCartney?

Saw his first few tunes at Glasto 2004, out of curiosity, but I don't myself like him or his old songs** any more, not enough to linger and see the whole thing anyway.

**(ie the Beatles ones, I was once a fan a long time ago, but sensibly got into a lot more interesting stuff)

And I have a near-overwhelming dislike verging on hatred of pretty much all his solo work, very few exceptions. Haven't heard the new album and probably won't, but I'd be surprised if it was all that much better than the nadir ...

In other words, I'm not a pathological kneejerk hater, but I'm very far from a fan either.

Who gives a fuck who b.b. is? This is about MACCAA.

He was fucking great at Glastonbury.. supurb set.

Not just me -- see above posts.

Fair enough ...

Didn't grab me enough to make me want to linger (I had other performances to get along to ;) ), but I'll take your word for it that he put in a good set ... if you're more of a fan than I am that is :p ...

I'm not an enormous fan. But I don't think you can generally judge any set on seeing the first few songs.. Although how you could have failed to be impressed by the opening 'Jet' genuinly amazes me!!

Just a difference of opinion

I wanted to give him a chance, but the experience (saw the first 5 songs btw) confirmed that I really wasn't that interested any more, not even in the old time classics.

I'd rather have seen Bowie in 2000, a performance that I very stupidly missed  at self ...

Bowie's usually rubbish live - Macca was much better.

Scandalous - how quickly you forget the Glass Spider tour. A masterpiece, a wonderous theatrical spectacle, and not merely some coked-up old tool rinsing the sour dregs of his depleted talent to a bunch of masochistic hero worshipping suckers. No, indeed.

At Glasto 2000? I'm emphatically told not, by lots who were there ...

no i mean generally.

Bowie fans tend to be a bit fussier. I've seen him a few times, and he varies from ok to terrible.

I reckon it was the festival factor - all that cider, drugs and fresh air - made people think he was better than he actually was. ;)
