Actually, you're right - it's utterly all over the shop and incoherent isn't it? :o :D But that's what makes it so much better than anything he's put out subsequently IMO.

Yep that's partly why its good.. he don't give a fuck!

Ooh, I'll have to give it a listen then! Is there any more enjoyable sound on this earth than that of multi-milionaires who don't give a fuck pissing about in a studio?

'Day Tripper'?
'Norwegian Wood'?
'Tomorrow Never Knows'?
'A Day In The Life'?
'Revolution 1'/'Revolution 9'?

Who (with the exception of the Kinks) sounded like that before they did? And how many did subsequently?

Believe me, I get sick of their sacred cow status and monthlies such as Mojo and Uncut documenting the decisions behind Lennon's defection from Colgate to McClean's toothpaste every other month, but not many bands wrote their own songs prior to The Beatles - and got to number one with the vast majority of them.

if i could be making albums at 63 i`d be very happy indeed.
i think macca doesn`t fits into their leftist do gooding image of the young angry drug fuelled rock star, which is strange considering the ammount of work he does for great causes...land mines, animal cruelty etc.
at the root of it is jealousy, nothing more.
anyway, where is all the musical discussion?,all i see is petty slandering (myself included),but if you can`t beat them, join then.

It's just pathological, mate. Since I was a small boy I've loathed the sight of McArsney's smug face, still more the sound of his voice (whenever I hear it I can just see that irksome fucking puppy-eyed thing he does.... )

E's a cunt, and that's that. :p

yes, my opinions of all my preferred musicians is predicated not on their ability but their political comment.

ok.. erm. trite, banal tunes, lacking any real feeling - and this goes back to the Beatles, who were technically interesting and emotionally empty.

Come on you 2, calm it down a bit.

After all, at the end of the day we all know that people are the same wherever you go- there is good and bad in everyone!

so now, monkey boy, my belief that the Beatles lacked feeling is because of my own emotional barrenness?

you really are a prize chump :D

.....

try listening to John Cale's latest (Black Acetate) - he's 63 as well I think, and he's produced a great album that certainly belies his years - unlike the assanine balladeering of the perpetually irritating Macca ...

then go start a "john cale`s back" thread and piss off.

I think it's all a case of learning musical history really. :)

care to expand? are you claiming that - for example - the loathing that wolfie and i share for McCartney is born out of ignorance of musical history on our part? :D
