Like SCTV was never shown outside of Canada, none of the stars the show spawned ever worked outside it's borders, the very concept/subject of the spoof (including perhaps Mr. Harris himself) was strictly Canadian, and Long John Baldry lived in VanCity for it's gayness. (Yep, the Yale Blues Bar, which literally kept Baldry employed for decades, certainly is a hotbed of all things queer, innit? Buttless chaps, slide guitars and harmonicas all over the joint...)

You don't think there are the equivalent of the Yale in most cities, esp ones like Chicago, where a musician of international stature could get a longstanding gig?
