Some of my best friends use macs. And I say unto them, "Thou ist a fool, look upon me in wonder as I spend the £800 I saved on booze and drugs.". And they cower before me. And if they take the "but LORD, ona cannot build an x86 quad core system for less than a G5 quad" I say "maybe, but you only use it for browsing the web and pissing about on IRC, so it's irrelevant".

Because it's no-one's fucking business and people are entitled to have their personal details respected.

If he was posting from work, having you tell the whole work could compromise his privacy and give others the chance to cause him grief, if so inclined.

I think the point is that lots of people find Tom annoying enough to put on "Ignore", but sometimes check his posts anyway to see how truely annoying he is. Says a lot about what people think of Tom.

Nope, just trying to disuadde people from playing silly buggers... If there was any hassle it would be very easy to locate where it was actually originating from, and Tom should know this (We've had hassle in the past but it originated somewhere in Eastern Europe so there wasn't much we could do...)

Personally I think this thread just just be binned, and Mac vs Windows discussions should be in the Posting Faq...
