I loath their music with a loathing so deep it has extra loathing ripple running through it and super loathing sprinkles on top.

unmittigated tripe - all of it

Fucking right.

It's the "greatest hits of chav scum" to my ears...

nope they both are shite, i can just about tolerate the ordinary boys remix of nine to 5 but thats only beacuse lady soverign does fuck all on it.

From the little i have heard of both of them they suck great big hairy donkey balls. Like wolfie said neither of them seem to be able to rhyme which is kind of crap and really dislike the voices especilly lady soverign.

my new least favoirte hip hope style stuff of the minute at least goldie lookin chain know there shit and are funny. Those two seem to think they have talent.

Well, I've never heard of either of them but the first one has way better dress sense and a very cool t-shirt, so I voted for her.

 shame on you

I guess this is further evidence of my grandad-itis, isn't it... :o :D

In my defence, I thought Sad Ass Strippa was funny. -Only for about five minutes though. :p

22-13 in favour of the feisty terrorist lady atm - will the pint-sized emcee pull up on that?

Right, I voted Lady Sovereign just 'cause I've never heard M.I.A.

But I've found a torrent of 'Piracy Funds Terrorism', so I'm going to download it and maybe change my mind...

I've not heard Lady Sovereign, but I saw MIA perform a few months ago as the opener for LCD Soundsystem. My friend - whom I've known since we were 12 - and I had a blast. We were really there to see her. It was like watching what we'd do if we had formed a rap group while in high school. It had this smart girls goofing off late at night energy combined with a sort of feminist/political core.

Her outfit was unbelievably tacky as well, which just added to the charm. The video art looked like something one my friends might've thrown together in an hour and a half.

She only has/had about 12 songs in her entire repertoire. Her set was really short - she played the whole album and then a sort of "well, we've run out" vibe overtook the outfit and she and her co-performers left the stage. We couldn't understand most of what she said, but it was good fun anyway.

Sov's a record industry packaged product-at least M.I.A. comes with something remotely inventive.

It doesnt matter how good at spitting she is man, there's more to making good songs than having good mike skills

i first heard mia back in may when my mate put a mix tape together for my birthday and then next time i stopped by his place i heard the whole cd and was well impressed then i caught here set at glasto (i think it was glasto if not some other festie) which was short but energetic and fun. As for lady sov i havent heard any of her stuff so it's mia all the way for me :)

I dont know m.i.a I'm afraid but love to Sov. Saw her at koko and then she posed for a photo and made my mates birthday.
Must say musically I prefer Shystie.

Too different to make a decision I feel - I think they're both pretty rad but for totally different reasons.

I've just been listening to the M.I.A. album and have to agree with this completely, they're both ace but different.

Big :D to this thread, I probably wouldn't have listened to M.I.A. otherwise.

Cheers Urban
