some great singles and a great sound earn it high, but it's just ultimately lacking enough variety.

not as good as the Lady Sovereign mini-album (and can i just say that the binned Lady Sov thread was one of the nastiest, most sexist piles of shite i've ever read)

yeh, i read that yesterday before it went binwards, and particularly found the 'wigga & chav' crap interesting...especially when i saw who was dishing it out.

the thing is, the hype and the mythologising can be fun. we're all media-savvy enough to unpick this stuff anyway. I mean, i can't ABIDE the Manics but it was fun watching them blurt all that crap. The KLF were as good at the media as they were at records. etc etc etc.

Yeah. But your favourite song is probably 'Creep'... :p
That's right - they didn't do much after that did they? :p

In all seriousness, I don't have a single favourite 'head song. But if I did it would be off 'OKC', 'Kid A' or possibly 'Amnesiac' ('Packt Like Sardines In A Crushd Tin Box' is a strong contender).

yep - depressing but not surprising. but let's not take offence at words like 'chav' and 'wigga' lest we get painted as bleeding heart liberals, eh?

I love Lady Sov. Got the mini album, really looking forward to the actual album coming out.

I like MIA, but the Sovs got the edge on her.

Save the Hoodie :D

me and the missus went to see ess-oh-vee at the eye-see-eh recentley - she was wicked. it was more of a punk gig than anything, with a proper band rather than just sov and a geezer on decks (which is what i expected).

as for MIA - haven't properly listened to all of the album, but what i've heard is good, when i'm in the mood for it. it can be a bit of a racket at times :D

I think it's pretty good - I wouldn't groundbreaking or anything but a good first album.

I find all this stuff about backstory very odd - I never listen to the charts (not prejudice - just organisation) and I don't read any music recommendations apart from here and the observer. The nice thing about that is that I'm always stumbling across great people I've never heard of but were huge five or 25 years ago. Can't see why people care about the backstory to a band or singer - any more than I'd care about the hobbies of a politician or the dress sense of a cook.

:D Not a bad music venue IMHO.

Wow. You're so open-minded. Heh.

;) :p

My fave song would be off The Bends or Pablo Honey ('Stop Whispering' is a strong contender).

To say nothing of the The Clash...

can we avoid another fucking thread turning into a Radiohead circle jerk?

thanks, like

Circle Jerk? Is that one of the unreleased tracks from the Kid A sessions?

My mates got a really good mp3 of that. In the background you can hear Thom York playing a laptop with his todger. Wicked.

Nah, that was Jonny Greenwood using it to play an Ondes Martenot. ;)

Oh yeah. With Ed twiddling his thumbs buried really low in the mix. And they only played it live once in Madrid. During their Hot Air Ballon Tour. When the played they whole show with all the lights turned off. Wicked.

But man have you ever properly listened to them? Thom Yorke writes really deep lyrics. that reflect the late capitalism of the 20th century and alienation. And Kid A is like all done with computers and calculators and stuff. And it's all about stuff that reflects the late capitalism of the 20th century and alienation. They're really good. Wicked.

I wish more people would vote on my poll.

And Ondes Martenots! :p

And did you know that what many people believe to be a sine wave synthesizer voice on 'Packt...' is actually a guitar? Heavily treated with ProTools...? Wow. :D

'Salright, came across as a bit of a self-obsessed arse in an interview I saw of her which hardly helps.

read the binned thread. fucking vile, frankly

just seemed like the usual Urban shite chouder to me.

Dub, sure you not being just a tad over sensitive? Iv noticed you seem to get quite offended fairly easily.

I not having a dig btw. I would of thought you'd let all that silly talk just go over your head.
