What is needed is for the responsibility for administration, breaches of rules etc to be translated into financial terms (fines) and bans from the game, and laid upon the relevant members of the board / club employees at the time the breaches took place. If the board members are still at the club by the time an investigation begins then points could be docked in certain circumstances.

Is that really possible? Bans from the game are feasible, but what power does the FA/FL have to fine someone if they just refuse to pay?

I dunno, though perhaps the FA/FL could get it written into directors contracts or something. Even a ban would be enough, it would ensure that people like Bates and the cunt Hamilton never get in a position to so similar damage again.

Has this ever happend before in football history? Only Swindon I guess.....

seriously though, harsh punishment but that seems to be the way these days.

We were relegated 2 divisions, from the old 1st to the old 3rd, over 15 years ago.

After appeal we were re-instated in the division (old 2nd) that we'd just won promotion from. 30 points? Pah.

But yeah, it's shit.

For what my dad designing thier garden?

my dad said:
yes i did design thier garden, they ripped us off as i seem to remember

and yes i do see where your going with this and its not really the same thing is it.

dave

Umm no its really not.

if you wish to continue you this i suggest the banksy thread cos this isnt really relevent.

AS the FA deduct points so freely then WEst ham should have been deducted some of those points and Luton let off some:D its only fair.

The FA didn't fine us twas the premiership. Your a shit troll. Cyberrose* at least came with a decent argument(most of the time).

*not calling cyber rose a troll on anything other then the west ham thread.

dave

The electric fences, the ban on away fans, the plastic pitch, the brown nosing of Thatcher, the mismanagement of the football club through the decades.......

Is Luton Town the worst run club in recent British history?

Someone has to speak out for justice! Actually, it's all a bit fishy on the Tevezgate front. The arbitration was supposed to make a decision at the end of June. That came and apparently the decision had been requested to be kept secret by both parties, but now they will make their decision in September!

And yea, West Ham = Premiership (corrupt); Luton = Football League (know how to punish cheats)

And if anyone's to blame for this phase of docking huge amounts of points to stop them benefiting from going into administration, blame Leicester...they started it!

At the moment the league is owned by the members (the clubs) and as such it is not the job of the league to bail anybody out, they simply represent the members of the league.

What people are saying here, that the league should have helped them etc point to a system where the league owns the clubs, like the franchise system in the US.

Personally, I'm happy with the way things work, luton did break the rules, shame the Prem were nowhere near as honest in their handling of west ham.

you saying both partties were asked to keep it a secret? or both parties want it to be kept secret.

If the later then i reckon you get nothing.

dave
I think the latter (altho only rumours, nothing official). And either way, I'm pretty sure we'll get nothing, and if we did, it should be the Premier League we were suing!

There was never electric fences at Kenilworth Road...IIRC Chelski thought about it but never did it.

Liverpool always used to lose at Kenny Road ;)

:D

And look what happened to Luton and QPR when you got rid of your plastic pitches! :p

I could have sworn electric fences were used at Luton Town, before you banned us all from visiting your grand manor!

David Evans - Thatcher licker!

Don't forget Oldham...Oldham had a plastic pitch too!

I read today that Luton are selling all of their players.

There's £22.50 in the bank then ;)

Will Luton Town survive this season? 2008-2009 bring it on

so, do you think Luton Town will survive in the football league this season?

We're gonna start the season in League 2 with minus 30 points, the worst punishment ever handed out by the football authorities, aside from Swindon's harsh demotion. We've lost most of our senior players from last year through free transfers and end of contracts. We've been relegated two seasons in a row and have little money. A little over 18 months ago we were 5th in the championship, having stormed League One as champions the season before. And then it all fell apart due to a small group of shitcunts and money-hungry business lickers...and the so-called football 'authorities'.

But in my 25 years of supporting the Hatters I've never been so up for a season as this season. The fans, we're well up for it. We've got rid of all the career cnuts here for the money, and now have a small squad of youth and loyalist players, and hopefully a few new triallists. Big Mick Harford [the hardest man in football] is our god-like manager. And the new owners pulled a masterstoke by unveiling former Captain Marvel, Kevin Nicholls, at half-time at a friendly at Kenilworth Road on Saturday, and signing him then and there on the pitch.

For the first time in ages we have real fans owning the club - they're not rich, but they're passionate, and they have the club's best interests at heart. The odds are stacked against us, but we're well up for it and i think we can survive. we've done the maths and we even think we can get in the play offs.

This is what football is all about.

So, do you reckon Luton can survive in the football league this season and avoid the drop to the conference?

League Two is much of a muchness. The top three or four sides will be well out there but there's not much between mid table and relegation in terms of quality- it's putting a run together that counts. Last season the fucking Dongs and Peterboro were easily the most consistent teams and went up but I wouldn't say either team was particularly amazing.

Rotherham have big problems of their own and its not yet guaranteed that they will start the season- which would be one club out the league and only one relegation spot, although presumably Luton fans wouldn't want to see another club go to the wall having come so close themselves. There are some pretty poor sides at the bottom, too; Dagenham, Chester, Accrington.

Sadly, though, Luton will need to have 80 points at the end of the season (pretty much the third automatic promotion spot at worst) to stay up and although the signings they've made are interesting I don't think they have a squad big or experienced enough to do it. I'd expect Wycombe, Port Vale, Shrewsbury, Brentford and Darlo to be in the top five; if Luton can break into that pack of teams you'll stay up. No team finishing with fewer than 49 points has ever stayed up.

I think Aldershot and Exeter are two of the stronger recently promoted teams; Rochdale are a strong side; Grimsby and Macclesfield have improved.

Clubs nursing a burning sense of injustice tend to do well, though, and I hope you have a good season.

they will need at least 80 points to survive, and that is promotion form, depends on the strength of the squad, and the mentality - playing the first half of the season with no points is going to be fairly disheartening - leeds managed to win 5 or 6 in a row last season to wipe out the deficit - luton need a 10 in a row start to do that

I voted with my heart rather than my mind. Basically, wish you the best of luck to beat this overly harsh punishment.
