The Phoenix is the best cafe in Brixton, hands down. Amazing toast, great mushrooms, nice people who run it. I like Cafe On The Hill as well. One warning though - I went to the Lounge for lunch recently as I fancied a change. It took them an hour to bring us our food, and two veggie breakfasts and a drink each cost seventeen quid!!!!

Have their prices gone up? They've always been the higher end of things but that's stupid!

It's 6.95 for a veggie breakfast, excluding drinks. We had two of those, plus a couple of drinks, which I guess must have been 1.50 each. To be fair, they were hugely apologetic that they took so long - basically they forgot our order - and gave us two extra drinks for free. But even so.

Breakfast, toast, tea and a coke is a fiver in the Phoenix. And it's better food in there too.

The Phoenix is great! I love their sadmiwches cos I get to choose all the ingredients!

Apollo cafe, at the top end of Brixton Road, is really nice too.

Just for balance, everytime I've been in the pheonix it has been utter utter shite.

The owners were nice though.

Cafe on the hill = x10 better

it does need a lick of paint mind
