Lucky Dube murdered

fela fan

sunny thailand
I've just seen that lucky dube has been shot dead in south africa.

The line from alpha blondy 'why do black heros have to die so young' comes immediately to mind, followed by a real sadness, followed by a sick feeling about humanity.

Reggae suffers a big loss, as does the fight for justice for all, as does obviously his family.

I still can't quite accept the news. It's truly terrible when such ambassadors for humanity die so young, especially when they grace us with such terrific music while fighting the cause against the injustices committed by the criminals that run our countries.

i can't stand reggae but do appreciate lucky dube's work.
he was different in the way he lived.
positive. disciplined. productive and everly so supportive for his community and family.

i heard him back in '95.

fuckin' tragic story this.

can anyone tell me what his most famous / best track is? we have a People's Republic of Disco tradition of honouring any recently deceased artists each month, and I wouldn't mind dropping a Lucky Dube song with that in mind but I'm know nothing about the guy aside from his massive popularity
