Lost Land of the Volcano - tonight, BBC1 @ 9.00pm

I agree, not enough animals, too much focus on the people involved

Still, mostly enjoable - and that guy's six pack was quite impressive  He did x mostly deadly creatures on CBBC, my son loves him :)

Another vote for the "too much focus on the people".
So much so that I turned it off, my missus was astounded, I always watch nature programmes.
I fucking hate all this Johnny Ball type nonsense "Oh what have you got there Gavin?" "It's a new species of human Dave, it only ever makes noise when it is in front of a camera!"
Heap of shit!
If it was edited down to a 1hr docu just focussing on the nature, cool, in fact, they should have a stripped down director's cut! :D

Dunno how he managed to keep his composure while millions of different moths flew on/around him, i couldnt do that! Missed the first half hour so might catch that on iplayer tmrw, enjoyed what i saw though.

You have to go there and get one first. You have to get past the leeches, tarantulas and huge rates ;)

and moths :D

It'd probably be worth it.... :D

I'm not scared of spiders and rats, but those leeches don't look like much fun :hmm:

In fact, if I could find one on the way I'd keep one of those rats as well, it was cute

Why would I do that?

Butterflies are not as bad as moths - I wouldn't kill them, but I don't want them near me.

They're beautiful.

This isn't me, but I went to this Butterfly Farm in Malaysia where they had these flying and landing you

and you could get up close to these

Great programme. Just one small criticism. Why oh why didn't they send in Stephen Fry? Oh, yeah, he's not a biologist or a cameraman. :)

That could only make it even worse.

I tried again to watch it. The come dine with me narrator is perhaps even more irritating than the muscle bound frog guy.

'George's volcano could blow at any time'....

Great subject matter - why oh why did they produce it in such a shit way though?

Who knows, and wtf did they spend so long in the caves last week? It's not like they found anything spectacular there. That was a massive waste of time.

What are you on about you tryhard numpty? These are well known scientists already - there was the whole highly acclaimed Lost Land of The Jagaur series already for a start. Add to that they're unashamedly campaigning to try and preserve the environments they visit, so some degree of hyping up its value and the expedition's findings are to be expected.

Honestly, I know you try hard to play the wannabe controversialists at every opportunity Gabi, but sometimes you come across like a right ludicrous plum

FWIW. I thought the presentation fairly charming - naturalists getting genuinely exciting about the prospect of new discoveries, like little children in a sweetshop. What's not to like about infectious enthusiasm?

Not every programme needs to be made dispassionately, with an authoritative RP'ed up presenter for voiceover.
