It's for a lesson plan I'm working on for my teacher training. I'm going to be talking about language features in poetry, and want to compare Walt Whitmann's "Song of Myself" to a more modern piece of writing; something that isn't traditionally seen as Literature-with-a-capital-L. I don't know a lot about hip-hop or rap, so can someone suggest something? Preferably clean lyrics - no niggaz, hoes, blunts, bitches or muthafuckas, etc. And preferably with complex rhyming that changes. Something LIKE Kendrick Lamar's "i" perhaps - empowering and *not today Satan* as opposed to *I'm a king/badass or a diss track, etc. Any ideas or suggestions will be most gratefully received.
