Look what was knocking on my door this morning!

If the cat wants to stay it should stay!!!

My cat never ran off or got adopted by anyone else, do you know why, because I kept her happy :p (before I got her from rescue home she lived in a house with kids and was terrified of them - so maybe kitteh ran away from a bad home) - although cats are great fun for little children, it's not necessarly true for the poor cat.

Even cats that are well fed and loved will disappear elsewhere if extra food and attention is on offer. My cats are pampered kittys but I had cuntish neighbours who would rather try to steal my cat than get their own.

You might have been joking but I think what you just said is really shitty.

Our balcony only goes one way (we're at the end with a big drop to the left) but it's never shown the slightest inclination to get up and go along the balconies, even after we've left it locked out there all afternoon.

Probably dropped by an eagle or something.

We had a black kitty appear in a few similar situation to this. No collar, took him to the vets, no chip. Put up some posters, no responses.

So now he lives with us. I don't think his previous owners looked after him, his fur was a bit manky and dull. Now he's soft and awesome.

:)

I was joking! Sorry it upset you... :(

Vet. Chip. Check.

I got a kitty off Urban75 in late 2003. Couple had kitty living in garden over the summer(husband allergic so made little home for it outside). But winter came, and they needed new home for it, and I needed kitty. Problem solved? No. Picked up kitty from Crystal Palace one evening, drove it back to Wembley - took to vets next morning = chipped. And missing for two years from somewhere far away from both Crystal Palace and even further from Wembley. Bloke had got two cats since, but still wanted his kitty back - my vet kept the cat for him to collect, and although I asked if he would let me know how things went, I never heard any more ......

Thing is, it can only have come from one of about 12 properties on our floor. Short of parachuting in from the heavens or it ascending up vertical brick walls there's no other way it could get onto our balcony - which makes the lack of a response to my door knocking and posters all the odder.

Despite the cat's curiosity taking it to just about every shelf, nook and cranny in our flat, it's never shown interest in jumping up on the connecting wall to the balcony - even when it was left out there for several hours without any food when we first saw it.

If it was my little cat that had disappeared eight floors up, I'd immediately ask my neighbours or at least look out for notes in the block.

We'll give it another couple of days and then see where the nearest vet is. It's as happy as fuck here in the meantime!

Here's a pic. It's a bugger to photograph being all black, and at night unless it has its eyes open it's almost invisible!

Very cute. I hope you get to keep kitty.

I've recently adopted two cats from the CPL, they're chipped but I don't make them wear collars.

You'd be surprised. S/he might have come from another floor.

Cats can and do get absolutely everywhere*, so it might be worth putting some notices on trees...

*Cat's do, of course, have a nemesis; The Garden Shed. This is why many humans complain about garden sheds being erected by neighbours; cats want them destroyed.

Yep, two of mine are amazing climbers.

Black or black and white cats are the best.

And all cats seem to love water from sinks, baths, toilets, your glass. Anywhere but their own bowl...

Oh he looks just like my Wilbur. :) If he didn't have two white toes I'd have sat on him a million times :D Great idea about photoing him in the bath though.

Black cats are fantastic climbers IME, so I'd check with the neighbours if you don't want your heart broken.

Or theirs. :(

Just after my last post, the thing managed to jump on to the 'reset' button of my PC. Grr!

They love keyboards for some reason.

I used to get emails from my Mum along the lines of:

(That was Smudge saying hello)

One of our others had a pretty good stab at installing Outlook Express by having a kip on various keys once, too. :D

We put a notice up in the communal entry.

Quite why the owners haven't done that already is anyone's guess.

*oops. There goes my printer tray, with the cat snapping off the holding pegs...
